Two More Hawkeye Suspensions Looming?

I agree with people saying that it depends on the circumstances. It might have been simply a discussion on the issue if it wasn't the second infraction but became a suspension because of his history.

I have to laugh at people saying that different types of infractions should be on different paths of progressive discipline. I had an employee try to argue that in a disciplinary meeting once. Even the Union's Business Agent couldn't keep a straight face at that one.

To be fair, let's admit the Cyclones have had their share of troublemakers over the years as well. It does seem so far as though Campbell has a little better control of his players, or maybe he is recruiting better character kids, I don't know.

Football players have always acted like they owned the town. When I was a student my bike was stolen and I saw a football player riding it a day or two later. Another football player was making fun of him because the bike was painted John Deere green and yellow.

There were two football players on my floor that went down to Huxley and stole the carpet out of a house that was being built. They carpeted the floor and walls of their entire room.

And my sophomore year a guy who lived in the same house with me got in a car accident with a football player. About 6 of them came looking for him the next day and of course he was not there so they took it out on me since they were all worked up already.

So yeah we treat these guys like celebrities and cheer for them on gameday, but I always remember that there are a handful of these kids who are selfish bullies and jerks. And only a few of them actually get caught and "punished."

There were a lot of stories during the Criner days. I knew a guy that got in a fight at a bar with Alex Espinosa. Espinosa started the fight with a guy who was a bit smaller than him and several O-linemen who were out with him finished the fight. I think the guy spent the night in the hospital. Criner, when asked about the incident, quipped something about it being Espinosa 1 - other guy 0. To be fair the guy I knew was a loud mouth and a bit of a jerk so I have no delusions that he was faultless in the incident.

Swing and a miss. You don’t take the bar exam until after graduating from law school.

I understand you were trying to be funny, but it didn’t work because the entire premise of your joke doesn’t make sense.

KF is the Iowa coach and he can handle this situation any way he wants as long it doesn't violate any laws or rules. Not going to even comment on the two strike thing, because it could be argued either way. As others have said, I want Iowa to have no excuses in this game. Personally I think they lose their first two games.

Lose first two games? NIU lost last year to Boston College, San Diego State, Toledo, Central Michigan and Duke. Those are all teams that Iowa would beat. So for NIU to win would be highly against all odds. Just saying....

They're picked for second or third in the MAC this year. Against an undermanned Iowa team that might be enough.
