Two More Hawkeye Suspensions Looming?

This is such a sad response. I'd be PISSED if an ISU player got strike 2 and only had to miss one game. You put winning above everything and let the players run the asylum you are setting yourself up for even more problems

What constitutes whether something is considered strike two? Does a player have to be suspended/disciplined for it to constitute a strike? If a player breaks the law/is arrested but is not punished, does that count as a strike?

He did something to get suspended for the bowl game: strike 1
He did something to get suspended again: strike 2

Not complicated

So under your theory a player could commit a crime and be arrested, and as long as he is not suspended, he doesn’t have any strikes? Lol, some system you’ve got there.

When and where did I say that? I don't think that so not sure where that came from.

This is Jackson's second time getting suspended, are you saying this isn't his second strike?

Remember when you all limped Scherff out there against us lol

Oh man that was bad. Even Iowa fans were saying he was injured and playing on one leg and KF still had him go out there for their Super Bowl

So your starting OT had to miss a bowl game for academics and now is going to get suspended again and he should only have to miss 1 game for leaving his teammates high and dry like that? How does that make sense besides you just don't want to lose to ISU so you're justifying it
ISU game has nothing to do with my opinion.

So if Brian Peavy runs into some type of trouble over the course of the season, you think it should be a minimum three game suspension?

Did Peavy get in trouble? I thought someone said they dropped the charges but I don't know. If he got charged with something and got in trouble again then yes absolutely 3 game minimum

One would think grades would be much more important, given that if the NCAA were to discover bad grades, a player could be ineligible for an entire season...

Separating grades and behavior also just seems like lowering responsibility. Either do what you're supposed to do, or don't -- no sense in categorizing it all.
Don't see it that way....grades are obviously important hence he missed the bowl game. I'd have to know about the circumstances surrounding the bad grades to make a better judgment on punishment. Was he skipping class? If so I'd favor coming down harder....did he have a hard time cutting it in college Algebra but simply had a hard time making the grade? In that scenario I'd come down lighter....

Anyway, I'm not a big fan of cut and dried punishment, each instance is different with different circumstances. Should be judged accordingly. That's the way I gave out punishment when I was in the military and it worked well...

That's just it. No one on this forum has any clue what transpired. What if what he did this time wouldn't have been enough for a suspension if it was "Strike 1", but now it is since it is "Strike 2"?

Not cool to assume grades were the reason for a suspension. @RedBayou agrees

Let's just be honest. No way with the team ISU has coming back this year was Ferentz going to suspend anybody for more than 1 game. It's less surprising than Twins being pissed at this.

I'm happy, I'm not mad at all. This sends a horrible message to his team

I was at that game with my Iowa friends and it was pretty clear right away that he wasn't even close to healthy. My Iowa fans were PISSED that Kilmer kept him in the game.

Wouldn't that be the difference between "an isolated incident" and "a pattern of behavior"?

One would think that multiple run-ins with team violations would allow for rising punishments, even if the incidents themselves weren't of the same caliber. No one likes bad PR, especially coaches.
