I would have taken him on the floor over most of our guys during the UAB game.
 
The wildcard next year is Nader. Athletic and talented.

First order of business would be for BDJ to finish the semester and move out of Ames, leaving Nader to swim on his own

He could put up very good numbers if he'd learn to pass the ball better. He can get to the hoop, but his head goes down and that's it in terms of giving the ball up.

Could you be any more of an ignoramus? You have no idea what someone like him will look like in two year. I don't get why everything has to have a negative outlook for you. Everything you type is some sort of sob story or sky is falling scenario.

That's kind of a silly argument. Whatever degree he gets is probably not going to make him as much money in 30 years as three extra years of professional basketball will make him. Say he makes $2 million a year in the extra three years... Hard to imagine him making more than $6 million in his post-basketball career.

He could be better at that, but I don't necessarily think that was his overall issue. The big thing with him is that he, at least this past year, was a horrendous shooter. I haven't looked up his actual numbers so I could be exaggerating in my head. And really, his ability to get to the basket was only so-so... it seemed like he just wasn't a huge part of the offense, or he felt like he had to shoot 3's? I dunno. I'd have to go pay attention more to the way people were guarding him, but perhaps they stayed back to give him an open 3 and just cut off the driving lane. Maybe that explains why it felt like all his drives came off the baseline, when defenders didn't cut it off properly.

Either way, his game is as a wing. He's not a forward, despite the fact that he's just as big as ISU's forwards (which as we all know is a problem at times). So figuring out some sort of jumpshot would help immensely. It wouldn't hurt to learn how to post up smaller guards, either.

What were we talking about? Oh yeah, Tsalmbouris. In very, very limited minutes he looked like he has a LONG way go. Could he get there? Sure. Watching him he looked like somebody who just very recently had a huge growth spurt and is still figuring out his own body, although perhaps its just cause he's so **** lanky. A good 30 pounds of muscle would go a long ways towards helping him, because even as a finesse big man he'll still need to rebound.

And those are silly numbers. All of our guys should go to Greece right now if a guy like Tsalmpouris can get more than $2 million/year in the next three years over there.
 
You can't teach 7 ft and our players get to go against a 7 footer every day in practice. No matter how good he is, or isn't - he's making our team better.
 
Guys, freshmen post players who aren't super athletic usually aren't good basketball players. There's numerous reasons for that including that most guys who are 7 foot tall probably aren't too far removed from a growth spurt and don't have full control of their body. Another reason is that they simply haven't had to develop skill to be successful. You look at guys like Kaminski, Wilcher, and others whose game is based in skill rather than talent and it just takes awhile. Okafor/Towns and co. are massive exceptions. There's one of those guys with that type of skill about once a year. Hopefully he can get in the gym, put some weight on and go against Jameel a bunch. He may not touch the floor next year but he's got some tools to make him valuable in the future. Perhaps a Kevin Pittsnoggle type player.

LOL, so he could go to Europe and make more than the 11th pick in the NBA draft? Might want to rethink that one.

Agree, no reason to give up, from either side (it has got to be tough on Tsalmpouris). I still have hope he could be like a Soph JVB as a junior. That would be huge for that team.
 
I like when I read posts assuming Diallo is in the bag. Been down that road before. Anyway, this thread is about Giorgos. Who knows, kind of crazy to think you could bring a footer off the bench but that would be ideal to get a few quality minutes night in and night out.
 
Think of his as being a better Jiri by the time it's all over for him.
