Trugreen

Good for her. Do it at your own risk. Some people, and animals, are built better to resist diseases IMO than others.

Just like the guy that smokes 2 packs of cigarettes a day and gets drunk every night and lives to 100 years old. Good for him, but that doesn't mean that anyone can do that and live to 100.

I'd rather not press my luck to find out I guess. But that's just me. Do what you want.

Oh, and of course everyone realizes how beneficial dandelions are for the environment too, right? It's better for us as a species to leave them alone than it is to get rid of them.

We have nicely manicured lawns in our 'hood and presumably a lot of chemicals. Neighbors two homes down are a 50yr old plus coffe shop Bernie sanders couple who keep their entire yard untouched by fertilizer etc and of course a million dandelions

They may live longer than us but those seeds are airborn and we're upwind from their weed patch and have spent a lot of $$ over the years warding off those effing dandelions from their property

Well, I cancelled Trugreen after waiting all week. Called A+ and am going with them. I told them to make it extra cancer-y for clonedude. Thanks to those who were actually helpful and the double bird to the rest of ya!

Rumors a few years ago in eastern Iowa that some lazy TruGreen guys that would run out of chemical during day would just find a hose and fill their tanks up with water. Lol

tough finding a good company. We've been thru 3-4 over the years and finally stuck with one
BUT YOU DONT SHARE THIS GOOD COMPANY WITH US????????????

My dog has arthritis so I just have them come out and spray the yard with 2,4-D and Oxycontin.

I'm always interested in what to do and not to do with lawns. Can you give the cliff notes version of what he was saying wrong and what's actually right?

It all depends on the condition of your at the present time. So it's hard to say.

And if you do it yourself, the type of fertilizer you use will depend on how many applications you will need..

The same goes for weed control.

Switched this year to a different service from Trugreen and will save quite a bit of money. We'll see how they do. I'd give Trugreen's performance a B over about 5 years.

Sorry bout that. But I don't get the whole perfect lawn thing. It is grass, who cares.

My wife just signed us up with TruGreen in Ames. Are they a different entity that what the rest of you are taking about? Anybody with experience in Ames?

A lot of dumb in this thread. You and clone dude are both right. Not too often I get to say that ;). At most I may do a spot spray, if i get some creeping charlie taking over an area or sonething but other than that i just overseed and aereate myself every fall and i dont have a lot of weeds thick lawn and it costs me 20 bucks a year. Only time i fertilize or water is if i have to comletly seed a dead spot or something. Let it go dormant in august etc. Mow at the highest setting and yku will have a healthy lawn. Is a perfect lawn worth polluting our water and harming my kids health? **** no. My lawn looks fine.

Cry me a river. So you have one couple in your neighborhood that are smart enough to do the right thing and you're ticked off because it might make your perfectly manicured chemical cesspool yard have a few dandelions.

Maybe you should just do the smart, and right thing and leave your yard alone? Let's see, you might get a few dandelions in your yard because of that one couple's yard... versus that couple might get cancer from your yard.... which is worse?

Get over yourself. Just relax and enjoy life. Who cares about a few weeds.

********* with a small *****.

You rock bro! But its kind of weird your first thought about a guy with a 'perfect lawn' is that. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I love the issues you bang the drum for. It gives me a chuckle.
