Nationally, people were over it the next day. It was the last headline in ESPN’s ticker that evening and bumped the next morning.

It’s not really a national story, because Iowa isn’t a serious contender for CFP, B10, or even top 25. Seems only the local guys can’t let it go.
Aaron Rodgers was just talking
About it on ESPN yesterday. But even if they only talked about it Sunday and Monday they were still talking about which was my point. Of course it’s not going to stay a national story.

It was talked about nationwide as a horrible call by people who didn’t take the time to understand the rule. You can’t advance a punt after making a motion like that (Peter/Poison). They should’ve whistled it dead as soon as he picked up the ball. Catching it while reviewing something else was well within their authority also. It just made it even more painful for the Hawkeyes.
At halftime of the USC/Utah game, they discussed it briefly and the Acho guy complained it was a bad call. Chris Peterson (former Washington/Boise head coach) interrupts him and says that it is absolutely the correct call.

Ah, I don’t watch Pat McAfee. But I haven’t heard a peep about it since Sunday on other shows I watch/sites I read (the Ringer, ESPN.com, Barstool).

Yeah it was a national blip for a day and then people moved on. This is the only site I see still talking about it honestly (I’m sure Hawkeye sites are still talking about it too).

'Nationally' means DMR, some guy's basement podcast in Lazerne, and KCRG.

Aaron Rodgers, Pat McAfee and those guys who spent years in the NFL don't know football rules?

Let's cut the *****, there are only 2 fanbases that think it was a good call. One of the them has the biggest d-bag coach in college football and I wonder who the other is?

I saw even Chris Williams tweeting about.
It was most definitely the correct call. You’re wrong.

How was it a bad call?

If you wave your arms, it's a dead ball and all scoring plays are reviewable.

I'm sorry your team lost again but if you're struggling this much with that, it would probably be a good idea to skip ISU's basketball season because they're going to lose some games, not win the conference title even if they win a few early, and we've all seen you struggle and live outside reality with that concept.

All I’m gonna say is while there has been outrage on our part about bad calls, there has not ever been this level in both amount and duration of continuous whining and complaining.
Spoiled brats. Jeff echoed what I had said earlier in the week. The coverage let up for the ambiguous nature of his arm movement. He gets crushed without it.

He wasn’t waving. And the officials admit it’s a judgment call. So you are partly looking at intent. They also say it didn’t look like a wave from the field level view.

This isn't a great argument when Donovan McNabb didn't know you could tie even after being in the league for 10 years at that point.

By the letter of the rule, it was the correct call.

Aaron Rodgers clearly needs to turn on the lights during his darkness retreats and read the rule book. Maybe he can use his Power of Intention to work his way through it.

That's a bit much. He seemed like he'd be a good guy outside of that.

Just funny how that Purple Hawk thing is so real, and they're all just the worst when it comes to sports.

Purple Hok and tavern Hok.

I have several friends etc. back home that I hold dear to my heart but explaining the world outside of their view on Hok sports can get a little testy.

I'll see some this weekend and I'd guess it comes up and when it's pointed out that it was correct, they won't hear it.

This debate was fun for a while because it was about an Iowa loss, but seriously. How long can you people argue the same points over and over and over again? Its not even hawk fans you are debating with. It's other ISU fans. Its been 5 days. Don't you think it's time to move on?

Aaron Rodgers was talking about it not being a fair catch, it wasn't a fair catch. So he's right there, it's an invalid fair catch.

also Pat McAfee has a Hawk on his team, so Hawkeye stuff gets brought up more often than it should.

I thought he was busy listening to dolphin sex to heal his Achilles?

He did declare himself a genius though for figuring out how to brush his teeth in the darkness by putting the toothpaste directly in his mouth, as if drunk and hungover college students haven’t been doing that for years.
