Torrent Brewing Company

Sampled some of their IPA the other day. Wasn't overly impressed.

Mind if I ask why? Too bitter, too sweet, not enough hop aroma, not your kind of hops? Just wondering because I like IPAs, but I'm not into big bitter hop bombs. I like a little malt sweetness and more hop in the nose than on the bitter end of the scale.

I saw the plans for the facade, it will definitely be a huge improvement to the building. Are you pretty confident the council will approve it? What about the north side?

The improvements are all up to the owner of the building and the city façade grant program. So if the owner wants to put up the cash for the grant program I'm sure he'll get it for the West side. As for the North side it's not the address side even though it's our front entry so no major changes will happen on that side. If any of you are ever near by and someone is working inside (other than plumber or electrican) stop in and say hi and let me know who you are on CF.

Fighting Burrito? All thru college I only had them while drunk, but I actually enjoyed their nachos at Dam to Dam last weekend.

Super Dog/Gyro Man? Then again, you're probably leaning more towards an older, not completely hammered crowd, so maybe those wouldn't be best.

Please don't bring in Fighting Burrito. I'd rather eat Taco Johns. Be cool if you could team up with Great Plains and sell slices out of the brewery.

Sorry for the huge gap in updates. Right now I'm looking for and hiring staff to help in the taproom and finishing up some of the little touches to the place. Once we get the staff we need (so pass it along) we'll open the doors shortly after. I hope to make it a fun place to have a beer and watch the Cyclones.

Best of luck on your opening! It is a wild ride once the doors open. All the hard work, long days and money flying out of the bank account with nothing coming in. We are now 7 months in and the rewards of seeing people enjoying our beer makes it all worth while. Next time I am in Ames I look forward to stopping by for a pint. If you ever make it out Denver way, look us up!
