Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

The hoks are 1 injury away from going nowhere. I don't wish injury on anyone, but if CC tears her ACL on one of her patented flops, their goose is cooked. Don't think I've ever seen a team that depends so much on one player.

Which is why I don't think they'll make it that far in the NCAA tournament.

Basketball is rather unique in that you can take one very good player and put them on a bad team and that team immediately becomes very good, all it takes is one. Most sports aren't like this, for example if you take the best QB in the NFL and put them on the worst team, they are probably still a pretty bad team.

Iowa's issue this year though is the supporting cast is so weak, there is no way they win a six-round single-elimination tournament where you're playing progressively hotter teams each round. Last year they at least had Czinano who was a great player, 2400-point career. This year it doesn't even take an off-night from Clark for them to lose. She had 45 points on 46% shooting at OSU and they still lost by eight.

In Iowa City, her teammates know that they are going to be better with Clark taking whatever shots she wants. I double if they could be said for any WNBA team. It would be very hard (and ineffective) to construct a team around Clark in the WNBA.

Clark belongs on the Harlem Globetrotters! The nicknames write themselves.

I was thinking about this today. If you put her on a WNBA team and actually use her passing skills you've got a pretty good team, the one woman show thing she does now will go nowhere in the WNBA. It will sell well overseas though.

I think this is also why EIU WBB struck out on the transfer market this past year. You'd think with the exposure from Clark and the title game run, they'd be a destination team. Transfers want to come to a team where they have a chance to be the alpha, or to develop, or to play a key role, showcase their ability to scouts against tougher competition, some of those things. No one wants to come and stand around watching CC shoot 25 times.

I got to thinking more about the Hawkeye love for CC. I will watch ISU WBB but I don’t adjust my schedule to watch the game. The men I will. When the men sucked, it flipped a bit. Well, the Iowa men suck so I think the Hawkeyes are going extra nuts over CC because their men suck so bad. She could be the reason Fran loses his job.

Caitlyn’s flopping is contagious.

She's a horrible poor sport.

I'm still surprised nobody simply face guards her the whole game, with an added double team on the drive.

Her support cast isn't good enough this year, and she'll get a lot of fouls out of frustration.

Lipsey also flails a lot to try to get calls... a TON of players do that... but some of that stuff in the video above is just playing dirty. Most players, including Lipsey, absolutely do not play dirty like CC does. That's just BS.
