TILLER!

I may sound dumb, but i'd rather have Arnaud throw it down feild and chance a turnover than have Tiller in and not throw it down feild at all.

Depending on the opponent I agree. What I mean is tonight, I don't have a huge problem with 90 yards passing with zero turnovers. We are physically so much better than then that we don't need the big plays. On the other end, against the Big 12, we will need to make plays even if that means we risk turnovers. IMO, AA has 2, maybe the turnovers that matter this year. I don't count the 3 against Iowa because I consider the situation irrelevant. He had to try and do something and made decisions you wouldn't make under normal circumstances. I also have a little trouble giving him whole ownership of the KSU fumble when he was hit from the blind side. Any football expert you talk to puts that on the line and in any case it wasn't a bad decision. So, you have the too against NIU which were bad. It was also the first game of the year. I am not saying he is the end all be all of QBs but he gives us a better chance to win B12 games.

Basically tiller started this game (ok he has 3 starts or whatever) but he played just as good as AA. And no interceptions.

Please provide statistical evidence of this. No, Ws don't count when there are two defensive touchdowns and 8 turnovers. Again, I simplyask you provide some sort of evidence this may be true.

I am absolutely SHOCKED somebody could still be for starting Tiller over Arnaud after this game. I love Tiller and he has a great future here at ISU but if we're starting Tiller the rest of the season let me know now so I can find somebody for my tickets because we aren't winning another game.

With our offense it might not matter at this point.

Offense looked bad most of the game. How many 5 yard penalties did they have? Throw in a few holding calls, missed passes, almost interceptions, 15 yard sack where Tiller rolled into the blitzer. We should have put 40+ on that team. AA is the guy, still, if he can go. Tiller's ok, but for every UNI and Nebraska, we'd end up with several Texas A&M losses like last year. If/When the bowl is out of reach, look to the younger guys. Until then, line up AA and see what he brings, good or bad. Hopefully we're developing some better O-linemen than some of the current ones for next year.

I only wish our D was as tough against everyone as they were tonight. Good to see that D-line getting pressure and liked those double linebacker blitzes. Not going to work against all the teams in the next 4 weeks, but better than last two weeks' play. Good improvement.

Simply stated, but very ture. I would rather have a qb that can go for a win rather than a qb that just does all he can not to lose a game.

As of right now, Tiller doesn't have it....yet

Tiller had zero turnovers which is great to see. However he didn't look super impressive either. I fear that ISU is just in trouble with their current talent levels at QB to win many more games this year. Hopefully one of the kids coming in can step up.

hard to say at this point. tiller struggled against an fcs team that was 104th in the FCS against the pass. imagine how bad he would play in the next 4-5 weeks with the brutal part of the schedule coming up. tiller manages a good game and doesnt turn the ball over, but when he starts we have to rely on the d to win the game for us. that wont happen against tech, oklahoma, texas or utah. AA sucks, tiller sucks. we are screwed!

Fixed that for ya.

Almost all of the time the back-up QB is the most popular guy on campus....until he gets into the game. Tiller has some tools that may be developed over time but it is very obvious why the staff selected AA to be the man. I have met Herman and he is doing the best with what is available, give him the opportunity to develop a QB that he recruited before calling for his head. McCarney recruited AA. I suspect we may be competitive in only the KU and CU games left on our schedule unless things change quickly with the offense. The defense is doing OK. Our offensive line execution and offensive penalties are our biggest problems not the QB play.

Like I've been saying, be careful for what you wish for. Some of you wanted Tiller and it showed just how even more anemic the offense becomes and how vanilla it has to be for him.

Thankful for the defense, otherwise we'd be 1-3.

No interceptions and a win. What more do you need from a QB? AA went 3 and out on his only series(with a 5 yard out route thrown at the feet, AGAIN!).

We dont have to have Tiller win games for us, just dont lose them for us.

hahahahaha suck it tiller fans... we won. great. but tiller... thats exactly why AA is the starter

You are a real winner. Telling fellow Cyclone fans to suck it because they are tired of the drive-killing turnover machine that is Austin Arnaud.

Stay classy, fellow CYCLONE.

For the love of God people, it's AustEn. It's really unreal how you guys don't learn our players names... especially guys who have been a starter for 3 years. It's just like the people who called Bret Meyer, Brett Meyers. He was a starter for 4 years. How hard is it to learn the name of your qb? /rant

Tiller threw it downfield as much as AA throws it downfield. That said, completing the bomb appears to not be on our docket.

We may be surprised. The defense looked like they were jelling last night. We had a lot of people in the right places.

Better than AA.
Not ready to say that yet. I think his passes will get better once he calms down. You tend to overshoot everything when you are jacked up or nervous. I'd like to see him get a chance to "settle in" before we make a judgment on him. At least he didn't turn the ball over.

Folks...we were playing an FCS team and one that lost alot of talent from last year. Excited about the win, but I fear T Tech will have us gloomy again quite soon.

Not really.

What I think I saw from upper deck: Not great at making reads- JT missed a couple wide open Collin Franklins to target nearer yet more covered receivers. He didn't seem to have any touch on his short throws at all. He hung on to the ball way too long a couple times.

To the good, I think he throws a nice deep ball - better than his short throws. Hell, it was nice to see a ball thrown more than 5 yards downfield for a change. And he is confident (whether he should be or not) which is a change of pace from AA.

Someone posted JT was 11/22 for 87 yards. That's pretty terrible 4.0 YPA, we don't beat ANYONE with that kind of QB play. We're **** lucky the defense scored twice. Trade those two pick 6s for 2 UNI scores, and we're in a dogfight with a 1-AA team. AT HOME.
