Just curious... do we have any idea where JP is at the moment? Last I heard some thought he was in Indianapolis and others thought he was in Atlanta, but that was the last I heard.

Let's remember when Stoops took over at Arizona, that football team wasnt even allowed on campus....it was all about Lute and the basketball team....
You say one winning season in 5 years.....yeah well were any of you like me saying it would take .... at least three-four years to get us where we needed to be, because his guys would be in position then to be playing and thats a true gauge of him.....
When stoops took over at Arizona, the two previous years had a total of 3 wins...ISU's program was in better shape and thats saying something. He went back to back 3-8 seasons while his guys got in place and then 6-6, 5-7 and 7-5 but by the way, that 7-5 season if you look at it is even more impressive. Five losses were by a total of 28 points, losing to USC by 7 and Oregon State by 2.
not sure if Stoops is the guy or not, but, i definitely think his work at Arizona is being a bit overlooked. I cannot say that his Arizona team has sucked because he took over a brutal team and made them competitive against the best the pac 10 has to offer in 3 years - in my book, not too bad!!!! Not to mention whoever would be taking over for him will not find that team without talent.
I would bet ANY amount of money that it ISN'T Patterson. People need to let that one go.
This is in response to no one in particular, but I'd like to make my thoughts clear on this item. Those who are questioning candidate "A" for any rumored character flaws need to think twice before they rule him out as a candidate. Most of that stuff comes from disgruntled players, fans, and are often times just made up. Now, if you have met the guy and he is a complete ****** bag then let us know, but I am willing to bet that no one can verify any or these rumors.
Also, one thing to keep in mind is that the last guy that we hired was supposed to be this 'great person' with 'strong family values' and he turned out to treat us like dirt. All that I am trying to say is whoever we hire, give the guy a chance. That's the least that we can do.

TCU plays on Dec. 23rd. Lets say Patterson is our guy and won't talk to anyone until that game is done.

If there were hints from and agent or someone that he was willing to entertain our offer, then yes.
If there is no indication he'd even consider us, then no.
Palmer that post is funny...I was thinking the same thing, I can just see next years renewals cut in half with people think about who there money is gonna support aka football coach!!!:smile:

It could happen, but if you listen to the Marty Tirrell's of the world, we already have our next head coach in negotiations - Mike Stoops. Well at least that's what some random member of the Illinois staff is reporting to Marty.

I live in Arizona, and I can tell you if we make this hire we'll get Wildcat fans coming on CF thanking us for taking him off their hands.

Jeremy, Bear in mind that I don't know that we need a great coach. I thought Mac was a great Coach. We need a great RECRUITER!. Stoops has a history of football... its in his genes. raised in OHIO, decent college career. Midwest ties, hopefully values.
Studying his tenure at AZ, I would say he has about reached his peak based solely on the records. IF they are gonna come Recruits and the fans. they will make their move by year 4 for sure. I think he is tapped out there.
