Thunderstruck

Very unoriginal. How about pick a song from the players lifetime.

Herein lies the debate. Is the entrance song to get the players pumped or the fans? Take a walk by the stadium during warmups and you will see that the players undoubtedly have a say in what is played during warmups. I think the entrance song is more meant to get the fans going-- and I think given the demographic of fans Thunderstruck may do that.

With our mascot being a bird, I think the clear answer was one of the many artistic renderings of the famed 21st century poet Birdman.

It's lame enough that it just might work.

I'm in the fan demographic and this isn't getting me pumped up...maybe if I was in a bar in Ottumwa at 10pm on a Saturday night it would get me pumped to try to score with the 53 year old leather-faced bleach blonde smoking a red at the bar and sipping on the flask she brought in because she's broke and knows that no one is going to buy here any drinks.

Not us old farts' fault today's youth SUCKS at writing music. WTF is the team supposed to enter to? ****ing Kanye West? Katy Perry? **** that. Play something with adrenaline and ****ing balls. ACDC will do.
Um, yes actually.. Kanye would resonate much more with the ATHLETES playing. Enough with the "old rock and roll has balls and is manly and is tough!!"... Please. It's time to stop yelling at those clouds.

Yah, I guess it just depends who you feel makes up our most vocal contingent of fans. Thunderstruck doesn't do a thing for me, and probably not for any students. But on the other side, rap problem doesn't do a ton for your 40-75 year old fans.

Good point.

@GTO brought up a very important point, they're both meteorological events. Makes sense.

One other thing, now that I'm getting older and have two teenage children, I'm worried about high school boys. There is very little rock music for the kids to listen to these days. Everything is all poppy and rappy and countrified and that's about it. #endDadrant

Would.

Don't see the big deal about this whole thing but I'll play. Given this logic, Va Tech should not use Enter Sandman then either. Am I right?
They have been playing that song for 16 years and it is tradition now. That song was still relevant when they started it

Exactly. The song is supposed to get the fans in the stands fired up. If I was a 20 year old kid that was running out on the field in front of 60,000 people, I don't need a song to fire me up. Hell, I'm probably not even hearing the music, just the tens of thousands of screaming fans. People really have over-thought this whole entire thing.

Just an example.

Nothing pumps me up more than that lyrical genius.

I don't get why we aren't using a song written specifically for us. That makes zero sense to me.

Thunderstruck is fine but it's pretty unoriginal. Pretty much equal to Smoke On the Water for me.
