THT Going into the Draft

We had to play in Auburn Hills! The refs screwed us!

Chris Babb got hurt! That bracket was wide open!

Georges broke his foot! We were like a buzzsaw! We were going to win a national title!

What happened happened. Reality counts more than speculative fiction. Giving Larry and Fred credit for the most absolutely rosy and optimistic potential of those teams, when college basketball is homicidal in its level of competitiveness and team quality after the first weekend of the NCAA tournament (and bad enough in the first one), is pretty silly.

I think that is the fundamental problem here. People act like Fred won a national title or at least made a Final Four OR, with a few more chances a better luck, would have done so in short order. No doubt about it. I am sorry, but giving the guy credit for far more than he did is ridiculous. The record books say what they did. Fred never beat anything more than a #6.

Prohm is coaching against the ghost of stuff that never happened.

Georges breaking his foot sucked but we rallied and beat UNC and Hogue more than made up for Georges and his own typical production against UConn. I swear people forget that Hogue went nuts against UConn. By far his best game in an ISU uniform.

Yep. Hogue had a great game in New York.

But we still lost.

Shabazz Napier, DeAndre Daniels, and Ryan Boatright were playing out of their minds that month. They never played that well before, and they would never play that well again.

This particular passage is just the BEST...
I look at Kentucky, Duke and Tennessee this year. Tons of draftable talent and no Final Four Appearance. This makes me think THT may be draftable for his sake but I'd rather he just had a draft Pulpit Rock $ticker $hock.

Sorry to be asking so many questions tonight, but what the **** is going on with this program right now??? I thought they turned the corner in KC and thought we had a nice core to build on for the next couple years.

Since then we've lost to the worst tournament team Ive seen in recent memory, had a coach be rumored to leave and looked like he was leaving by his demeanor in the tourney game, had exactly 1 player looked like he even cared if we won or lost that game, that same player gets kicked off the team a week later while the coach gets a 5 year extension, we have 2 guys who arent anywhere near ready declare for the draft so they can go play in front of 600 fans in the Quad Cities next year, and the game plan for all of this is to replace them with a guy ranked 396th in his recruiting class?? Not to mention our former coach taking over the most hated program in college basketball.

Excuse me for not having a complete meltdown about the future of this program right now.

This...is your masterpiece.

3 factors that boost recruiting
1. Guys in the NBA
2. One and dones
3. Deep runs in March
Prohm is associated with a lot of NBA guys. THT is the first to check box number 2 for Prohm. Now that I’ve moved on from the tourney I’m actually excited for spring recruiting.
Side note, if Beard stays put I’m scared to see what the future in Lubbock looks like.

This will be a good test to see where Prohm is for having a plan for when the one and dones leave...he had to have known this was a strong possibility.

I will say that if we start looking at having one decent season and then somewhat gutted rosters for a year or two it's not great. Having guys like TH and Conditt around is at least a good thing.

....
While it is highly unlikely he returns...it’s always possible he doesn’t impress in his workouts and his agent feels he could drop to 2nd rd.

Agree. I just hope that THT now realizes that in his workouts he longer has to shoot 5 feet behind the 3 point line.

NBA is all about potential. THT is only 18 years old. Lots of talent. He is probably going to be picked at the highest choice this year and staying in school won’t really help him. It may hurt him. THT forces a lot of bad shots. Inconsistent. Makes some bad decisions. THT was on the bench with the game on the line. And he played poorly in the NCAA Tourney. Probably a good move to declare.

Ok, I will, Im going to need counseling for all this stuff that has happened the last couple weeks though. Hopefully he can bring in some solid guys to replace what we lost, if not we are in trouble next year.
******* divas.

Everybody on here knew that he was going to declare. The coaches knew it was extremely unlikely he would be back.

Lindell needs to see where he is. I think Tyrese needs to go get feedback also.

Every single person that follows Iowa State basketball knew this was coming. Yet it’s used by the crew as another excuse to go after the coach.

I would love to see THT come back, but if he is drafted in the first round he will sign a minimum $2.5 mil contract for two years. Since many mock drafts have him going mid first round, he would be crazy to come back unless the NBA feedback he gets is something different.

Bring in 2 grad transfers. once again 7-12 won't play OR get developed. Then they transfer, the grad transfers eventually don't work out, and we end up 4th or 5th in the league.
Obvious troll.

Also congrats on being the first person I've EVER seen on here with a RED rating bar lol
I mean, I'm a pretty terrible poster that adds nothing of value, but man, look at you! Go back to Hok report.
