THT Going into the Draft

Anyone have thoughts on Zion stepping in? He seemed to have been highly recruited but I don’t know much about him. he started the year injured, how much did that affect his minutes?
Looking at the roster in its current state, gonna need one of Lewis, Zion or Leech to step up and play a significant role next year.

very "iowa state" to finally land a 1 and done from chicago...and get a nice 1st round loss with a 2pt 1 rb performance.

best of luck to THT - he'll be a great nba player!

This is probably why we aren’t current or future NBA GM’s. Just think of what THT could be when he is 22 yo with the highest level of coaching and training for those four years.
Yeah I know the NBA loves projects but its weird.

At this point I'll bet we are going to see baptism by fire with Leech.

Been on his mind all season and at times he played like it so good luck.

Agree with anyone thinking it's going to be a bumpy offseason.

Curious what CSP's plan is as he had to know this kind of thing was a possibility.

This. It's quite unfortunate we've been in the best stretch of Cyclone hoops but never made it past the sweet 16. Now Fred's in Nebraska, we're losing our best players to the draft (which is good and bad), former bad teams in the league are getting better (Texas Tech) and Iowa is rising.

This is really dumb

I never get this. THT isn’t a “project”. A project is the 7 foot guy from France that had to stop playing soccer when he shot up and has only been playing basketball for 2 years.

THT is a top 50 HS recruit from a school with tons of NBA heritage that has been playing against top competition his entire life then went in to the Big 12 school and averaged double figures and compiled a big highlight tape in the process. He’s just young, not a project. He’s really good right now with time to get much better.

Good for the kid, but as an ISU fan something just doesn't feel right about one and dones.

He is a project in the NBA meaning he needs development before he is going to be seeing time in the league. He will be a GL guy next season.

When a player gets to 23-24 years old, they are pretty much close to their ceiling. Pretty much what you see is what you’re gonna get. At 18-19, the ceiling is much higher. Not all pan out, but it’s worth the risk on getting a player with potential to make a major difference for a franchise.

This is why I have been so critical os CSP and the team underachieving this year. We needed to really peak with this roster to pull in some big recruits for next year. If we bottom out next year we will have two rebuilding years and a one and done tourney appearance over a three year span. That is a big step down from the years prior and it is going to take a lot of momentum out of the program for recruiting.

You suppose Prohm wanted THT to dribble around and force himself into the lane instead of playing team ball?

Roster maxes out if everyone is maxing out for each other and that happened in a handful of games but nothing was sustained...part of that is coaching but we saw what was possible if the group as a whole followed the idea of 'pass the ball'.
