This just frustrates me!

While I know that we're looking for all the national and regional tv exposure we can, etc. I'm constantly getting frustrated about how long it takes to get out game times.

For instance, we're almost two weeks away from Baylor and we're still TBA. For those traveling 4 hours like us, that could mean we'll need to leave early Saturday morning for a 2:30pm kick-off or get a hotel on Friday night for a 11am kick-off or get a hotel for Saturday night for a night game.

Not only that but when you're making the trip and trying to schedule family events, work, etc and unable to firm up any plans because you're still in limbo about kick-off time just over two weeks out is just frustrating.

Last year they pulled a doozie on us when they released the tentative schedule with all the Saturdays and then flipped a number of them to night games and a couple of Thursday night games. That really sucked when you're a season ticket holder that's traveling from a decent distance.

I just wish that once they set the schedule, it would also include firm times.

That is all. Rant over. ;)

Is it me or did that Texas Tech game start hella late last week. It was close to midnight at the half

Unless I was watching on delay...

Conference games are rarely announced more then 12 days before the game, and sometimes its 6 days. TV pays the Big 12 a lot of money to be able to pick and chose which games they air based off current standings.

The first game of the year was annoying as can be, and awful. 2nd game wasnt as bad. But I agree, it almost ruins the sole reason I actually go to the game.

We even debated getting season tickets this year (and just doing single games that we knew we could make) because of the Thursday night and nightime start times. Luckily hasn't been that big of an issue this year so far.

The Big 12 should have it's own network. It's a shame Texas ruined that.

Texas having the LHN has nothing to do with game times. Not sure that would change anything, TV networks want the best games in prime-time. That is difficult to determine a month in advance. Every conference deals with it.

This may be true...however I'm sure you see the point Blum, Texas f'd our conference over just so that their form of politics could reign supreme.

Except that most Big Ten game times are set through October, and some to mid-November?

Hotels only need 24hrs notice to cancel. Hotel reservations aren't a problem.

All the ones that I have booked at wanted the notice before 4pm the Monday before, and this year they wanted a 7 day notice. So for the Kansas St. game everyone that was suppose to come down couldn't, so we canceled our rooms and it had to be down by the Friday of the NDSU game.

In regards to conference games, can that really be that hard to figure out? I mean, Baylor v. Iowa State in week 4 was probably never going to be a marquee matchup.

True, but big FOX gets 1st choice, then ABC, then FS1... and so on. Some times it is deciding between Baylor-Iowa State and Kansas-Texas for a middle slot that holds up the process.

Texas kept the conference together as it was about to fall apart, and everyone allowing the LHN was a key piece to that.

How so?
The only schools that truly ****ed the conference were A&M and NU.
I think Mizzou is more responsible for all of this. They started courting the Big Ten long before Nebraska was invited. The Big 12 became unstable at that point, and the others got out while they had a chance. Also, in the end, them leaving helped the conference. Its as strong as it ever has been right now.

Well color me surprised. I've never stayed in a hotel that needed more than 24hrs notice. Was that Ames hotels? They prob know it's a game weekend and change the policy. Stay in dsm and maybe not have the same problem.

Mizzou consistently voted for what they left for. Had NU and A$M done the same, the Big 12 very well could have been the conference expanding.
