*****The Super, Mega, Huge Big 12 Expansion Thread*****

Just to pull the expansion thread back to the front...

The obvious candidate is Louisville.

I think the not-so-obvious candidate we should pursue is UK. I would like to bring in a football team we can beat more often than not. It would strengthen basketball even more. And also bring in a great regionall rival with Louisville.

I think UK would have a little more football success in the Big 12 than the SEC. (2 or 3 conference wins versus 1 or 2)
Why would UK leave the SEC, exactly?

Kentucky wouldn't be a doormat in the Big 12 in football? If UK were looking to leave, and if they were desireable, I'd imagine that they'd prefer the ACC from a fit perspective. They get huge basketball presence with an easier football conference than the Big XII.

I don't know how picking up the least known and successful football teams from the SEC helps the conference, it just waters us down to be more Big East like. It's not like the SEC or Big 12 are beating down our doors so they have someone to beat, why would the Big XII do that?

Yeah.. despite the SEC having the edge over the b12 most of the last 10 years, going forward, is that still true? The big 12 is a very solid conference right now and adding TCU and WVU isnt going to make it easier. The idea that a school would do better going from the SEC to the big 12 or the reverse (do much worse going from the big 12 to the SEC) is a bit suspect.

Maybe this has been addressed elsewhere, but is this weekend a sample of the difficulty the top teams in the Big 12 will have in maintaining eligibility for the championship or BCS games? In past years, it's likely that OKSt. might have been able to "duck ISU" (I know...that feels weird to write!) or other North division teams they're less familiar with.

Even great teams have a down game now and then. With a 9-game round robin schedule, you're more likely to play that down game against another conference team. As this weekend proved, there aren't any gimme games in the Big 12. I think we're seeing a future of having a bunch of 6-7 win teams and no undefeated champion in the Big 12.

From a Missouri standpoint, I'd DEFINITELY prefer 6 games against the SEC East, 2 against the West, and 4 OOC games than just 3 OOC games and playing EVERY team in the Big 12.

SEC East is pretty weak IMO. I understand you not wanting to play Big 12 teams. It shows how very mediocre you are at football. Hope you don't get too ****** off when ISU is selected over Mizzou for a better bowl. Your fan base sucks and doesn't support your team very well. And that will continue to get worse and worse as you lose more and more fans in the KC area. Good luck on your course to irrelevance. And don't forget to send the check for the maximum in exit fees. Since Exit fees are not an issue.

Lots and Lots of fans dressed as empty seats on senior day at MU. I watched on ABC here in K.C. and it looked pretty empty in the stands. Embarassing turnout for a group of seniors that has done a lot in their time.

TCU and WVU are both doing better than MO and aTm in the Sagarin. Looks like the B12 is getting better next year. The SEC East may turn out to be the Big 12 North with Alabama or LSU crushing the Georgia types in the champ game.

What would be hilarious is if the Big 12 gets better as the SEC gets worse and that the most popular to watch football is played in the Big 12 and Pac 12 instead of the ACC, Big Ten, or SEC 14.

Are you going to cry tiger tears when we get picked, again, for a better bowl than Missery? Will Pinkel be able to make it to said bowl game without getting pulled over?

Maybe a few more losses for southern Big 12 teams due to Northern teams prowess might show them that some years a championship game would be needed to go further in the BCS.

How fitting would it be if we beat OU and ensured the Bedlam series was not for the marbles as OSU would have clinched over OU before it was played.

Attendance smack? Seriously?

The crowd wasn't great...a late-season game against a mediocre conference team (can't really say "rival") will do that. So will a .500 record.

We still drew 54,309...that's a capacity crowd at JTS.

Define "better." After the Cotton Bowl, they're pretty much all the same (which is to say "worthless"). Even the payouts are pooled together, so nobody really gets more cash. Still, from the moment Mizzou left, I think everybody knew we'd get the Nebraska Treatment.

Which is fine. This whole season kind of feels like a scrimmage or a pre-season to me. In a year or two, nobody is going to remember how Missouri's last season in the Big 12 turned out.

The losses for OU and OKSt. mean that the B12 is probably getting 1 team in the BCS; everybody else moves down a game. Ubben has MU to the Pinstripe, but as I've said, I'd be happy if that went to ISU. The B12 bowl tie-ins should go to the teams that are still in the conference.
