*****The Super, Mega, Huge Big 12 Expansion Thread*****

I would imagine Louisville fans with dreams of long term major football are feeling more and more impatient for the Big 12 by the day.

Any football boost the Big East got from adding Boise State, Houston, and SMU has pretty much been watered down with Memphis, Temple, SDSU. Navy has been solid lately, but long term they're not a power add for a BCS league either. The open invite for Villanova to jump straight from FCS to BCS AQ is still on the table as well.

I believe UMass is scheduled to join the MAC in FBS football in a year or two. Why not just go for them while they're at it? I'm not sure if Army is still considering, I know they were offered.

The minute the Big East is stripped of a BCS AQ, my guess is the western and Texas teams reconsider the MWC/CUSA merged conference because it would be better for them.

I think its hilarious that the Big East is now coming back after the same school they kicked out 7 years ago.

On one hand, yeah, technically.. but now its almost like CUSA inviting temple. I think rutgers might be the only school staying in the big east that played football in the big east the last time Temple did.

If this article is correct, then must mean that Hawgs and the Ligers will be cross divisional rivals. That means that the Ligers will play a conference game in Texas (at A&M) once every 12 years. That can't help for Texas recruiting.

Untrue statement. Missourians are not bred for their skills in magic, they're bred because brothers just couldn't stay away from their sisters (no offense to my Missourian ISU fans...).

That went completely over your head.

It did not. I simply shared your concern of attributing to Missouri the magical qualities of a Liger, as being above their worth. You could also go with Inbregers or KU's nickname "slavers" for all I care.

Monday Afternoon Rumor Mill: Where I guarantee that you didn't see this coming - From The Rumble Seat

ND, Maryland, Georgia Tech, and Rutgers are rumored to be pursued by the Big Ten. Same rumor source states that SEC is looking at Maryland and NC State as 15 and 16.

What is really interesting is that neither of these rumors talk about Clemson or Florida State being pursued. Granted we know the SEC has schools in those states already but those would seem like bigger gets for the Big Ten than MD, Rutgers and Georgia Tech.

That's fine - the Big 12 will take North Carolina, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Florida St...

I should note, looking at Big Ten fans and people who should know.

People pay $.20 for BTN if they live outside a Big Ten state. People play $.80 if they live in a Big Ten state for BTN. Atlanta supposedly had tons of Big Ten alums. So it would be more money to to pick up any Georgia school.

I would love this scenario. We need the ACC to crack, so that the Big 12 can pick up some of the left overs and solidify itself as one of the Big 4 conferences in the new order. If Maryland, Georgia Tech and NC State all left, everyone in the ACC would have to look very closely at their options. I would take any 2 or 4 of FSU, Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, or Miami as additions to the Big 12 in that scenario (probably in that order). Leave Duke, UConn, Syracuse, and BC join up with the Catholic schools in the Big East to form a top notch basketball conference.

I see the SEC as going for VA Tech over Maryland.

SEC wants UNC real bad. If they have a chance to crack the ACC and steal a team its UNC.

Either way, I think the goal is now to crack the ACC, which makes sense. Its a garbage football conference (it has factually been worse than the Big East for years) that has a lot of small enrollment, small alumni private schools that don't generate TV viewership.

VT + UNC = SEC homerun for #15 & #16.

Maybe Clemson and FSU aren't coming up in this rumor because they are already half way out the door to the Big 12?
