it would be interesting to have luck as our commish... if theres any validity to what the dude is saying (and i am saying if) then he would make an interesting selection cus of his connections to the ACC schools, also ive heard he has connections with nbc cus of work with nfl europe which would be useful when trying to renegotiate the tier 1 contract in a few years. it would be awesome to have some of those teams in our conference but i feel like itd be too many and itd turn into just chaos with teams playing each other cus they have to and no one really feels like theyre in a conference anymore. itd be nice if we could knock off the SEC tho too

Never liked 16. 14 is just a bad number. 12 is ok, but really like the round robin of 10.
That said...I hope we do 12 and stick there otherwise it'll feel like a huge disconnect with some of the teams IMO even if they are big names.

I agree. Home and home for basketball is absolutely epic. And while it would have been nice to have a better bowl game this year, every week during the football season was way more fun that it ever has been before.
10 teams is better than I could have ever imagined.

Is this before or after Oklahoma to the PAC is a done deal....trying to keep up with your locked up predictions.
I thought round robin would toughen the road for ISU. Looking at it now, it might actually help us in the games with OU, Texas, and such. We see them year in and year out and gain a familiarity to their style and players.
I think this is what has helped Iowa in the past. With Iowa going to where we were in the Big XII, it might be detrimental to their success and make it more difficult to win against the "elite" teams in the big ten.

Just wanted to say I'm in love with the Round Robin and the Double RR.
I think it strengthens the conference. It feels like all the schools are our full brothers as opposed to our half/step brothers that we aren't really tight with.

They were only 'yawn' because they had zero relevance. The PAC had a team that barely deserved to be in a bowl game in the championship game, and the big 10 didnt have anyone of any relevance in the national picture.

Championship games are strictly about the money--$2 million per school or more can be pretty convincing--but championships can validly be determined other ways.
The only reason for expansion would be adding TV inventory for additional viewing slots.

If it was up to most of us fans, we would've stuck with the Big 8 back in the mid 90's. I don't know if the Big 12 will end up at 10, 12, 14, or 16, but I think we need to remember that our own wishes may not necessarily be in the best interests of the conference.
The whole reason the Big 8 expanded to 12 in the first place was because some of the AD's saw the writing on the wall that without Texas the Big 8 was going to have a problem with lack of TV sets in the midwest. Did it stink to lose the Big 8? Yes, but it was better than the alternatives. Look at where the remnants of the old SW conference ended up.
Same thing today. If the Big 12 has an opportunity ever present itself to go to 12-16 that makes the conference financially and competitively, then they have to go through with it even if it isn't as good for the fans. Better to go on offense than keep getting picked apart by other conferences.
So yeah, playing everybody in the conference is great, but sometimes you have to choose the lesser of two evils if it means the long term good of the conference.

Mizzoulander's linked piece is interesting because it essentially sums up where the Big 12 is today. The Big 12 is likely to do exactly what Outkick the Coverage is suggesting, and for the same reasons.

The presidents of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have said they are most comfortable if the league gets back to 12 members, while Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds advocated 10. Neinas said there was even some sentiment for staying at nine.
“There is no unanimity at all. There isn’t even a plurality among the athletic directors as to what they would like to do,†Neinas said.
He added, “There has been no shortage of interest†from teams wanting to join the conference.
3. TCU is back in the mix in full force for expansion
Neinas had said last week that there was “resistance†from some existing members to adding teams from Texas.
“I’d say that’s changed,†he said.
