If you're in charge of the Big East, and the most important thing to you is keeping your conference viable and (sort of) nationally relevant, do you want to strictly enforce a rule that keeps a team who wants out of your conference locked in as one of your "marquee" programs for the next two years?...Or do you take a hard line on the waiting period, but look to settle for as much money from WVU as you can?

Keeping a angry, disconnected, and lawsuit-happy member like WVU for an extra 2 years doesn't advance your goals; every big game with them, your conference is going to be beaten down by the their fans worse than Turner Gill's defense.

Better to use the waiting period as leverage for more buyout money...which you can use to help cover travel costs for your new 4-time-zone league.

Precisely the reason that the Big 12 should insist on the maximum exit fees from Mizzou. Pay the FULL price.

Well . . . enjoy your new family of "friends" in the SEC. You guys will be getting a lot of pats on the head in the next few days from your new SEC pals. But don't be fooled . . they are licking their chops! Have fun sticking it to us all! :SLEEP:

The only people Mizzou is sticking it to is themselves. It is a great day for the Big XII. We finally are rid of those ungrateful bastards from Mizzou. The main cause of instability is now gone. Hopefully KU cuts them off in all sports as well. It will be hilarious in the future listening to Mizzou cry foul when they become a cellar team in the SEC. Mizzou just became Vanderbilt 2.0.
 
Deaton is the slimy one. Was head AD when everything happened and did nothing, but try to get Big xii to collapse to get MU to different conference. UT at least did explore in front of our faces. MU's deaton tried to sink ALL OF US for MU's improvement. Tammy made the announcement and went to the bus stop. MO just tried to backstab everyone and ran away when they got caught.

Turns out OU and UT has more class than MO. MO was the instability, now they are gone. Move makes no sense and hurts every sport they have. Actually kills wrestling.

Why was Pitt and other schools not called? Deaton was head AD and looked out for MO instead of doing what he agreed to do when he took it. Bunch of cowards how they preformed in their assignments.

So let's stop feeding the trolls and let them die off, do not reply to them and ignore them.
 
I have laughed at the lack of story that the University of Attention Wh***s have gotten from this announcement. I don't think I've seen a single realignment story announced with such a collective, "meh". Friends and clients in the SEC are shaking their head and shrugging their shoulders, as are those in the Big XII. It just doesn't make any sense. A&M has a claim that they've wanted SEC ever since the SWC went away. But MU(AW) cannot make this claim.

And to top it off they spent most of the presser yesterday talking about KU. They are a confused little group who really just want to feel wanted.

The Big XII should not accept anything less then the full buyout amount. Now is the time to give Mizzou a preview of their new home in the SEC and bend them over as much as possible. :yes:
 
Now that UT is sharing some of the pie, this move makes no sense. Missouri struggles to compete in the Big 12 in football as it is. All they've done is move to a more competitive league and cut themselves off from the Texas recruiting pipeline. Their current roster has 35 recruits from the state of Texas.

This post requires an apology to Vanderbilt. No way Mizzou keeps up with Vandy on the academic side. The athletic side is questionable.

The Big XII is the winner in all of this. They have found a way to get rid of the 2 programs causing 99.9% of the instability within the conference, they have added 2 programs that are already better then the 2 that are leaving, and all of the Big XII members are going to get a nice fat check courtesy of the lunatic fanbases at A&M and Mizzou who so desperately wanted to go to the SEC. Ladies and Gents... the Big XII has hit the trifecta here!
 
Good job, Denton. Your exploratory committee screwed the pooch from both directions. No other words fit what just has happened. What a dumb move by MoMan.
 
Here are my two scenarios I'm hoping for:

12 team, realistic, we can 100% have it if we want it:

Current 10, Louisville and Cincy
-Divide the divisions up any way for football, can copy the B1G and focus on competitive balance over geography

My dream scenario that is not as likely:

Central:
ND
ISU
WVU
KU
KSU
Louisville
Cincy

Southwest:
Texas
Tech
TCU
Baylor
OU
OSU
BYU

I'd prefer all sports, but even if BYU/ND is just football, this conference would be close to the SEC's equal in terms of football quality. It would be superior to the SEC in national marketability and money. It might even pass the Big Ten as the most net profitable conference.

Either of these would be the #1 basketball conference as well. If the ACC takes UConn, the ACC might be the equal of this league but none would be superior.
