Ah I dont know anymore if the Big 12 is as stable as it seems, we would kill our football program with a move to the Big 10.

I agree. I would only jump to the Big 10 if the Big 12 was collapsing. If you'd asked most of us in 2008 we would have given the same answer. It wouldn't be the worst thing, but I like the Big 12 better.

I don't want Notre Dame unless they are all in. We don't need partial members.

"If you are implying that ND stays Indy in football, NO THANKS! We have been there & done that. ND brings nothing to the table besides football."

You can't think about this like a fan, think about it like an AD or a conference commissioner.

#1 If ND is a partial member with us, they aren't a full member with someone else. This keeps the Big10 and ACC in check. Also, ND has weight to throw around on college football issues and that would now be aligned with the Big 12's interests. Do we want them as a full member? Of course, and if they are already a partial member, that could happen over time.

#2 ND would have to schedule a minimum number of football games every year against Big 12 teams. Even if they just want high profile games with teams like OU and Texas, that means s**tloads more $ from the networks, $ that is shared evenly among all conference members. Saying no to ND's partial membership is throwing money away for your school - not good business.

I agree with you...however this guy makes some good points. That's A LOT of TV dough...

Agreed. As it stands today, I would probably say turn down a B1G offer. If the rumors about expansion with ACC schools are true, that would remove all doubt.

While I want ND to join in all sports, I understand why it is still beneficial to the conference to allow them to join only in Olympic sports and 6 annual football games.

The reward is too great to pass up. Not only would the B12 get tv money, we would also keep other teams from landing ND. I also think that you have to realize that the big 12 is not the big east. The big 12 has plenty of schools that will stand up to ND if they get to pushy. Either way, that scout forum is like dodge city for rumors. They are Everywhere!

One thing that was terrible about ND's partial membership in the Big East is that they got to take a Big East bowl slot for having a winning record, wothout having to play a Big East schedule.

As an Iowa State fan, are you willing to let ND have a bowl above us most seasons, without participating in our meat grinder schedule?

I hate the idea of partial members for the revenue sports. It dilutes the whole idea.

I believe he is suggesting our TX & FL recruiting would suffer greatly thereby hurting our football program.

We currently play zero games in the state of Florida yet seem to recruit there just fine. I don't know if that really changes if we're in the Big 10 instead of Big 12.

Texas? Who knows, I don't think it would suffer greatly, but it would probably drop off some. But we'd also be in a postion to gain inroads into Ohio, Michigan, Penn, etc. We'd be picking up the leftovers there instead of picking up the leftovers in Texas.

I had no idea this was the case. If they ask to take bowls away from B12 teams without joining, I hope we would instantly tell them to go screw themselves.

I dont get why the whole idea of having notre dame's non-football sports is anywhere desirable. ND's value is in its football (and even that is diminishing as they grow farther and farther from the point where they were relevant)

Also, what major conferences allow any team to be a partial member, without one of the major sports? None (big east clearly does not count). If you want to be a part of the big 12, get all in, or all out. Same thought i had with BYU back when they were a hot item as well.

You can always get "Notre Dame" where "Your Name" is. Would only have to change 4 letters as well...

Because any agreement with nd to take their Olympic sports would come with a fb scheduling alliance of probably six games. That is 3 nd match ups to sell to tv which means more money for the conference.

If they're willing to schedule 6, why not just go all in? Whether the conf schedule ends up being 8 or 9 it's not a huge leap.

While I would prefer them all in, 25% of your schedule is a huge leap.

This is the correct answer.

While I understand Notre Dame is a national brand, their fans that I know of are almost as bad as Nebraska in thinking that they are a national power. Notre Dame hasn't really been relevant for at least 15 years.

Will be interesting to see Neb in 5-10 years. And I mean in bowls against real teams, not against Purdue, NW, Indiana and Minnesota.

Nebraska has four non conference spots, I don't know why they don't schedule games with Texas teams to keep a presence down there. Even if their old Big 12 foes won't play them, there's still A&M, Houston, SMU and Rice. They could get into that annual season opener game at Jerry World
