The Fuskers appear to have gotten their franchise QB

Rhule will make Nebraska a very good football team but they will never be elite like the past. Part of that is because they were at such a high level it's impossible to repeat that in any conference except the SEC. Even in the SEC there's only 2 teams capable of being what Nebraska was. There is a fan base that expects that, but that base is actually very small. Most of their fan base just want to start winning again and the support for a team that hasn't been to a bowl in a decade is actually pretty amazing. I think Nebraska is in a pretty decent spot. I don't think the Big 10 is invincible even with the top of the PAC.
As long as the portion of the fanbase that thinks they should be on Alabama/Ohio St/Georgia's level exists, it will eventually poison the rest of the fanbase with a small amount of success. If Rhule (or the coach that follows him) gets Nebraska back in the conference title/CFP mix, eventually he'll get canned unless he's bringing home titles and CFP wins because he "can't get them over the hump."

Pilini was a weird case because he was a fantastic *******, but was also justifiably upset that 9 win seasons with conference title game appearances landed him on the hotseat. Maybe a coach with more tact would have managed to stick around, but plenty of the fanbase seemed very eager to push him out.

Raiola's Dad was the center of controversy a few times during his NFL career. I assume the family will cause some drama if things do not go well. Sounds like the kid is very talented. He will have a lot of pressure to be good right away.
The year 2000 he ran off the field in Ames and gave me the cut throat motion. I was a high schooler in the front row giving Neb all kinds of **** as ISU jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first half. The second half was all Neb and they won easily as I recall. A very fun and sad day for me.

With Purdy now in the transfer portal, Nebby finds itself with their 5 star recruit, a local high school recruit, and a couple of other turnover machines with little mobility. I can only assume that they will drop even more NIL $'s on a transfer QB. Otherwise, putting all your hopes on a "potential" QB with a suspect line is a bold bet.

They are going to be the 49ers now! One guy and now they can be like an NFL offense. It's just that easy.

As much as I hate Nebraska I think Rhule is on his way to turning that program in the right direction and you know what I'm here for it. I'm sick of Iowa fans thumping their chests because the beta an terrible Nebby every year. If Nebraska and Wisconsin can make the leap I think they will Iowa's ceiling is probably 7-5 most years. No more hiding behind a weak schedule.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what a good Nebraska would mean for ISU. It probably hurts Iowa, which helps ISU (and is just generally funny). On the other hand it’s another recruiting threat to us in the Midwest.

I have a hard time seeing Nebraska as a true national brand in this day and age. They’ve been awful the last decade. It’s still a low population state that doesn’t pump out a ton of blue chip prospects. Lots of people in America think Nebraska as a state is middle of nowhere full of corn and empty spaces. Is that sexy for a top recruit in Florida or Texas or wherever? They have the $, but so does Texas A&M… how has that worked out the past decade?

I too have thought a lot about that and I think one thing that helps is that Nebby's recruiting scope is very wide. I don't hink it hurts Iowa State all that much.

I disagree. A resurgent Nebraksa will pull the best talent away from the state of Iowa. You still have a lot of Adults with kids who know what Nebraska used to be.

I've also said this before, but Campbell not beating Iowa the past couple of years won't make it any easier when Iowa needs to hire a new coach. We need to be beating Iowa so when Ferentz retires, Iowa high schools coaches trust our program over a new coach at Iowa.

I know I've shared this before, but after Frost won his bowl game with UCF, one of the Lincoln TV Stations immediately went live after the game expecting an announcement of his hiring at Nebraska. They ran old highlights, an interview with his parents, Tom Osborne, former players and so on. They did this for nearly a full hour waiting for the announcement, repeating these segments over and over. The announcement didn't happen and the reporters awkwardly went back to regular programming.

On top of that, there's the "day by day" two-part documentary that is all about the glory days of the 1990s. You'll also still see TO regularly on political ads during election seasons (and he has not aged gracefully, IMO). I've seen a handful of people still wearing their National Championship gear...yeah, pretty standard.

EDIT: I almost forgot, look up "Frosty the Coachman" on YouTube. You won't be disappointed!
Scott Frost was hired at the end of the season and brought all his coaches with him. Nebraska allowed them to coach the bowl game after he was hired. It might have been a condition for him to go there.

LOL no they won't.

Chubba transfering again what a ego
I met him in (and family) in Norman after he left FSU. His problem is that the starters thay have been in front of him are just bigger names/better.
He's a nice kid and the whole family is down to earth.
At some point you wonder about ego but he's probably just wanting to play at a high level.

Tough shadow to be in now.

I met him too and Brock’s folks at Purdys last game in Ames vs TCU. He’s a really nice kid. I have no idea why he went to Lincoln but I’ll definitely keep rooting for him.

Sidenote, their dad is awesome. Kind of down to earth guy you could just sit and shoot the **** with for long time.

I wouldn't say "iowa" but I would say upper plains in general. There's talent to be had in Iowa, Neb, Kansas, the Dakotas, Minn. Especially big fat linemen. ISU competes with Nubs, Iowa, Minny, Wisky an to a lesser extent Boise, Wyoming, etc out west for that talent.

Nebraska (and Iowa, and Minny) being bad helps that talent come to ISU. Nebraska sucking wind is good for ISU.

Our main recruiting rival (outside of Iowa) has been K State for a while now (and to a lesser extent KU, but that will probably increase with Leipold there).

Breece and Noel are quick examples, Purchase and Freyler from Colorado, plus some of the younger KC area kids that haven't played much yet.

Traditionally, Colorado kids have been an easy get for Nebraska for geographic reasons. I'd be more worried that Nebraska will throw an offer at our Colorado targets for the sake of depth and CMC's track record of identifying undervalued 3 stars, if nothing else.

Futhermore, IDK what effect Prime in the Big 12 will have on that, he's a bit of a wild card and probably presumed to be after bigger fish in Texas, but it's probably worth assuming Boulder will be more attractive with him than without him for the state's better players if he wants them.

I do notice we are listed a decent amount of times with them for offers. Ben Brahmer and Chase Contrarez are both transfers from Nebraska.

Grant Brix had a lot of high major offers out of western Iowa including us and ended up committing to nebby.
