The Fran fade

Fran is 61 years old, has been coaching since 1985, and never been to a Sweet 16. Lol. Can't wait for their defense to get them knocked out early this year, followed by back to the bottom half of the conference next year, and the fire Fran talk to ensue.

The hawkeyes are still chapped about CMC winning a NY6 way before Kirk could in his career. What was the hawkeye fans saying about their 2015 season? Something like, we can only play who the schedule says we play, they want to have it both ways now.

Kirk has never won a NY6 bowl. He went to one and lost in convincing fashion.

Most people I know will interchange the BCS and NY6 bowls since they are basically the same level and presitige.

I agree with the first part, but not the second part.

From 1998-99 to 2005-06 the BCS was just the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta and Orange with one of those serving as a championship game on a rotating basis for a total of 8 teams that could participate. KF made one of these and lost in the Orange Bowl in 2003.

From 2006-07 to 2013-14 the BCS was just the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta and Orange with the national championship game playing a week later at one of the four bowls on a rotating basis for a total of 10 teams that could participate. KF made one of these and won the 2010 Orange Bowl.

Now we have the NY6 with the aforementioned bowl games while adding the Peach and Cotton Bowls for a total of 12 teams. KF made one of these and lost and MC made one and won.

It was much harder to make a BCS bowl from 1998-99 to 2005-06 than it is to make a NY6 Bowl now. Making a BCS bowl from 2006-07 to 2013-14 is harder than making a NY6 bowl now.

I don't think ISU would have made a BCS bowl under the 1998-99-2005-06 criteria, but probably would have under the 2006-07 to 2013-14 criteria.

I would say best bowl win. Beating OU in Norman, the OSU night game, Beating Nebby in Lincoln, beating Florida State (yes Seneca was in) are a few games that stick out for me for best wins.
I agree with this. Oregon was nothing special this year and probably wouldn't have been in the Pac 12 championship if not for Covid. It's equivalent to beating Iowa or Wisconsin from this past season.

So you think Oregon was ISU's best football win ever? That's the statement @CyTwins made. I disagree. I don't think it was ISU's best win last season.

I think it was their most meaningful win ever. They've had many more impressive wins over the years, including OU and probably even TX last year.

And now G6 has one guaranteed team. So you are saying that since 11 instead of 10 get in that it is so much more difficult?

I would say the best win ever would be beating the Pac 12 Champions in the Fiesta Bowl

No chance many ISU fans agree with this. Beating a 4-3 Oregon team who didn't even finish in the AP top 25 isn't ISU's best win ever.

Winning @ #3 OU and winning vs. #3 TCU were both wins against better teams and were more impressive. The magnitude of the Fiesta Bowl win is the best though.

We also didn't beat a 4-3 Oregon team. We beat a 4-2 Oregon team. If you beat an 11-0 team, you just beat an undefeated team not a 1 loss team right?
