The Fran fade

SOS can also be severely flawed. If you are a top 10 team and play a bunch of 5-7 to 7-5 teams in football, then you will probably have a much harder SOS compared to a top 10 team that plays 3 other teams with 10-2 records and the rest at 2-10.

Yeah I think playing a bunch of bowl teams is more difficult than playing nine 2-10 teams

I feel the the latter team played the hardest schedule, whereas most rankings would probably say the former team played the hardest schedule. Just one example of how I think it is flawed. Especially for football.
I mean I understand where you're getting at, just think it's a bit extreme. Playing nine 2-10 teams would be such an easy schedule lol. I know what you're saying though.

Ehh idk. I think a lot of people care about it in sports and it plays somewhat of a factor.. That's why San Diego State isn't #1 in the nation, or UNI isn't in the top 5 in the nation. Nit picking it is annoying though and arguing between a difference between the #4 and the #8 ranking.

It is a consideration, but that is about all. It does make a difference when you are talking basketball and comparing major conference to mid majors.

A metric is only as good as it's data. Acting like one SOS is correct and others are junk is just dumb. They are a measure of what is pluged in is all. That is why they are all over the board, they all have different data baselines.

It is funny that you take any of the SOS so seriously. It is funny that you act like 5-10 spots in SOS is some kind of crazy tougher or easier in a schedule to brag about. It is funny that you troll so badly now. Most everything you say is a joke and it is funny because you try to be serious about it.

We haven't beaten Iowa in anything other than SOS for like 6 years now so just us have this.

Really though Sagarin is the only reputable SOS site for college football though. Even when it's not favorable to Iowa State it's still true

Obviously you pick one, and that is all there is to you. Kenpom for basketball and Sagarin for football. Fits your personality perfectly. I also love that you would live and die over 1 SOS spot as well. LOL.

Since @Clonefan32 broke it down for me, I will give you this SOS win, it is obviously very important to you. It is all you have, losing 5 straight Super Bowls is tough on a guy, and I think it has broken something in you.

What happens to you guys when you lose to Iowa State? I haven't been on here long enough to know honestly. Do you not post? Do you congratulate us fans?

Take Texas A&M's schedule last year. It was ranked 21 according to Sagarin. They played Clemson, LSU, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia. To me that should have been a top 10 schedule at least. But they played a bunch of teams that were beyond awful. Even if they just played awful teams, they get the W either way and their SOS would have been much higher. It wouldn't have changed their record either way.

Yeah that's true. The whole SOS thing is weird. I also fully understand why they went 8-5 now too lol.

Oh god you couldn't pay me to be around here if ISU had won a football game (basketball is different). I mean it is insufferable enough around here, I can't imagine how bad it would be if ISU actually beat Iowa.

Yikes lol. Cowardly move honestly.

Nothing is keeping you here.

Don't remember. Just kidding. Just like any other loss. I sulk for a few hours, go on communication silence, avoid cyclone fan contact for 48 hours , then move on the best I can.
