The Band

They could play the fight song as much as ou plays boomer sooner for all I care. However the chants are terrible with very few exceptions. I would like to find somebody who actually likes them, and then try to discover their humor.

I thought that chanting "block that kick" was funny. Other than that I don't like the bands antics. And members of the student section, what was with the extremely unnecessary picture of Cyclone Alley before the game?
Freshman?

Allow me to reiterate. The band is a vital part of the atmosphere. The music related things are fine. Just cut the chants.

Slightly off topic, but WTF student section, just because you don't have to wear the CA shirt this year doesn't mean that you should be wearing random Non ISU shirts. Saw some guy wearing a plaid button up. CA should make a rule that you have to wear red to be in the lower sections. How hard would it be to find a red shirt?

Seriously. Apparently the whole point of going to Hilton is to focus on watching the game. Someone needs to tell JP his priority for renovating Hilton should be to put leather recliners in place of all those hard plastic seats. It'd make for a more comfortable game watching experience, while also absorbing the ambient sound (as well as the sound of those obnoxious instrument carrying comedians)

In addition each seat should have a flip up 20" flat screen TV so people in the balcony can better focus their attention on the game.

For those at the end of the game that haven't left at the 8:00/4:00 media time out, maybe in place of the fight song a polite golf clap can be given, if it isn't too much trouble and too distracting.

You reading this Athletic Department? The People have spoken!!! make it happen!

[/extreme sarcasm]

I object to your golf clap suggestion. Sure, it sounds great when one person does it, but an arena full of people in seats and concourses still adds up. I cannot properly focus with that kind of obnoxious noise.

Last night it seemed like they were doing the Cameron crazy thing. And nobody likes that. Looks like amateur hour in Hilton last night. That dance off to Call Me Maybe during TV timeout??? Absolutely embarrassing

Agreed. Same shirt... bad idea. Same color, good idea.

Yeah, that was incredibly lame.

That was all about athletics. They wanted to get some cool crowd pictures for marketing purposes so they used Cyclone Alley.

It only sticks out because it was the first non-con game of the season. Later in the year when everyone is loud it won't be an issue.

I'm not even going to touch the issues with Cyclone Alley yet because there will be about 30 more threads on that topic before the season is over.

That's what happens when you've got a group of kids who are heavily invested in the game but aren't allowed to swear or be overly vocally negative. They're having fun—chill out, guys.

And as it's been said already, if a group of 50 people is the loudest thing in a 10,000+ person building, then that's not those 50 people's fault.

I suppose the band could just act like the students do and stand there with their arms crossed looking ****** off about the fact that they even went.

Having fun is for losers.

Yeah... even as an alum of the band.. i'm not a big fan of those chants, theyre not that funny, especially the 800th time you hear them, and theyre really more dumb than anything.

As for the basketball version of cowbell... meh. Nice idea, but i'm not sure it really works.

the cowbell chant is stupid in general.

Why can't the band just play songs??They try to get into the spotlight and it's incredibly annoying. I go to the games to see the team not to see you guys do some ******* chants.

End rant/
