Those chants are stupid when student sections use them in high school gyms. They're even worse in ******* Hilton Coliseum

Damn kids these days! I just want to listen to my same ten "Crazy Train" and 90s club music songs over and over again! Back in my day we had respect for the game with crappy canned music and stately atmospheres? Don't you all realize it, this is a basketball game, it is serious business, this can't possibly be for the fun of the student body, the team, and those trying to have a fleeting time of their life before trying to pay off loans?
By the way, The Band and *our* band are each pretty awesome.

You shouldn't even be able to HEAR the band during free throws. Yea the chants don't make any sense but good grief they're having some fun, leave them alone. Hell last time I was there they showed more life than anyone else in that arena.

Its not about the free throws so much as it is trying to make the basketball game a show around the band. It has gotten embarrassing.
But at least they are rocking those really hip, cool hockey jerseys.
Seriously. Apparently the whole point of going to Hilton is to focus on watching the game. Someone needs to tell JP his priority for renovating Hilton should be to put leather recliners in place of all those hard plastic seats. It'd make for a more comfortable game watching experience, while also absorbing the ambient sound (as well as the sound of those obnoxious instrument carrying comedians)
In addition each seat should have a flip up 20" flat screen TV so people in the balcony can better focus their attention on the game.
For those at the end of the game that haven't left at the 8:00/4:00 media time out, maybe in place of the fight song a polite golf clap can be given, if it isn't too much trouble and too distracting.

My last year in pep band was when the Mayor was a freshman. Chants were stupid, yes. Didn't like 'em and still don't. Who knows when they came up with those? They were old back then...
If you can hear the band chants, you aren't being loud enough. I can remember Hilton rocking so loud I couldn't hear myself play Fights. I went to rock concerts where my ears didn't ring that much afterward. That place should be loud!

Now that the sober people are getting on, I'm going to side with them. And maybe the drunk people will side with the sobers after they sleep it off.

But they, not the cheerleaders, are what gets the student section loud. The "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" ing is typically led by the band. "Cyclone" "Power" is typically started by the band.
But the student section is never loud so I don't know where I'm going with this. I'm gonna start a thread on it.

I'm not going to say much other than the fact that this thread just pisses me off. I like you don't like the cheers either but they are going to happen. Fight songs are not controlled by the band it comes from above as well as the placement of cowbell. The fact is, there are 3500 student season basketball tickets and less than 50 people in the band. If you can hear the band chanting over the student section, that's not the band's fault. We love the game, we're not trying to draw attention to us, it's just tradition and that's how it's going to be. Simple solution, BE LOUDER! Go Cyclones!
