This is what I was getting at before. Captain America was corny? Of course it was corny! It's Captain F'n America, how the hell do you make a non-corny version of that movie? You don't, you just run with it, embrace the ridiculousness and have some fun. Same thing with Thor.
If that's just not your taste and you prefer the tone and style of TDK, that's cool, but I don't think you can hate on Iron Man, CA, Thor, etc. just because they chose to do something different, because what they did choose to do, they did very well, imo.
Yeah, I think that they are two different ways of going about it. Go the way that Marvel has and you run the risk of being corny. Go the DC (Batman) route and things need to be 100% believeable that they could happen in real life or you lose your audience. For example, Superman doesn't work in TDK world. Neither does Green Lantern. Marvel picked the "comic book" route vs the "graphic novel" route and they are able to seamlessly weave their characters into one world.
Just to be clear, while it does have a more "realistic" tone you don't actually believe that TDK is 100% believable right? There are still a lot of elements to that movie that are completely bat-**** crazy.
That's gotta be Fin Fang Foom during the money shot at the end.
CURSE YOU APPLE SCUM!!!!!
I CAN'T SEE THIS AT WORK!
So, he's a Decepticon now?!
I'm excited but absolutely loathe Scarlett in that role.
Whatever he is, they can't f' him up as bad as Galactus was in the second Fantastic Four film.
