That game was stolen from us.

The number of bad calls was terrible but would we be talking about the foul outs or total number of fouls, if guys like Lipsey and Grill quit putting themselves in position to pick up cheap fouls? We could easily wipe out 10 fouls a game by conceding 3 or 4 easy baskets (where we are beat), not bodying beyond the 3 point arc, and senseless reach ins in the lane. We did the same ****, particularly Lipsey, in the Tech game.

You'd think we could figure that out, you know, before the 3/4 point of the season.

For those that claim Caleb wasn't touched on his layup attempt. I understand the refs couldn't slow it down to 1/4 speed like I did, but it looked like a foul in real time and in slow mo replay. Joe clearly trips Caleb as he goes to jump.

Punched him in the elbow too. Dirty piece of ****

I don't even watch or pay attention to road games anymore, I know we are going to get ******, so why endure that frustration.
The last two games, I've waited until the game was over, checked the score, and then decided whether I wanted to watch it. It's really, really hard to keep my mind on something else and not check the score, but I get too wound up watching games lately and decided to give my nerves a break.

That's exactly what I'm doing for road games. Always seems to happen about this time of year.

Yup, whether you like it or not, that kind of contact is a foul. And something that minor was called 3 or 4 times on the other end in the same night. Officials' lack of consistency / placement / awareness, etc. Cost us 2 freethrows there.

But, let's not focus on one bad call. Let's rather focus our attention on their full 2 3/4 hours or GOD AWFUL refereeing.

I am very unhappy about the way our basketball team was treated at West Virginia.
It is not fair to the players who worked so hard. It is not fair to the coaches who have also worked very hard. So much money is spent on their travels, as well. I personally think that West Virginia should be boycotted. I guess I can only hope that the Big Twelve tournament will be much better.

The real question is if it was a travel. :)

For those of you that haven't watched it you should to see if people are nuts about their take on the officiating or if it's warranted. We've all seen bad officiating and this might have been the poster for their club. But I just want the reversal calls explained by an official. Like can they now go to replay to issue a foul? When Robert Jones drew their second foul, which ended up being our 7th and they went back to 1 foul, then they went to see if it was a flagrant and flip the call to a foul on Robert for cylinder. Is that allowed? I mean I know they did it, so it must be. But to what extent can fouls be changed/reversed?

Personally I despise the constant whining of our fanbase towards officiating game after game. Last night though seemed like a really bad job. We had a couple calls/no-calls for us as well, so this crew was just really bad. Like Lipsey's travel before half or Robert setting a better screen than Trevor Downing.

I would agree the officiating was marginal. The Robert Jones flagrant was a joke. And I thought WVU got away with bumping our cutters.

And I believe Big12 officials might be reacting to feedback/direction to officiating ISU games in general.

That's said, WE HAVE TO BE BETTER/SMARTER ON DEFENSE!! Our on-ball defense is not good- way too much dribble penetration. Guys are playing defense with their hands instead of moving their feet. Holmes, Grill, Lipsey and Kalacheur all have to be better on-ball. It's no accident that Jones, Osun and T King have all been plagued with foul trouble this season.

Players have to be smarter, when refs are calling it close. There were 12 fouls (ISU 7) called on both teams prior to the 16 minute TO. I can't recall a team being in the bonus before the first TV timeout. KU was in the bonus at the 12 minute timeout on Saturday.

TJ has to adjust. Last night wasn't isolated- it's become a trend. Trapping is great, until teams take advantage. There are teams and times during a game when we just need to play solid straight-man. Or we need to spend a lot of time in practice on a zone.

Be more specific. If officiating, that is not a WVU issue. It's a Big12 office issue or ISU coaching issue.

If it's WVU fans, give some specifics.

I don't even know if ISU was good enough to win cause there was no flow to that game. 31% of the scoring in the game came from FT line. 20% is usually pretty high for a game

You people have more will power than I do. I CAN'T miss a game. I get the jitters.
I definitely have to do something else to distract myself. Last night I drove to Boulder and took my girls out for dinner. Very relaxing!

WV was favored last night and TJ yelling has nothing to do with them hitting banked 3s and ISU having miscues with opportunities right in their hands late.
I should have been more explicit. My point about the two no call bank shots were that they were pure luck and had nothing to do with our defense breaking down. We have lost 4 road games in conference play of which a #11 ranked team would find a way to win one or two. Appears to be a pattern. Is it lack of a consistent go to scorer who can create a shot at crunch time such as Brockington? Would TJ influence some of these homer calls our way if he got in the officials ear with more demonstrative action on occasion? There is no question that he has done a wonderful job with the program and this team has performed way above and beyond expectations.
