"That game reminded me of..."

Middle of D-mac era we were up 28-7 on KSU lost 35-28, this year up 28-13 lose 32-28. Both games at 28 at half never scored in the second.

I was thinking TCU last year. Fail to pick up a 3rd down conversion (3rd and 5 last year versus 3rd and 1 this year I believe) to run out the clock, followed by a TD drive for the loss.

This and whatever year we were up 28-0 on KSU and they came back to beat us. That one hurt.

A little of when woody fumbled on the goal line against West Virginia at home. The big difference was that day my balls were frozen so I didn't feel the kick as bad as yesterday.

Wasn't the game after texas last year the Baylor game? That's what worries me most. We threw everything we had at k state and fell just short. Are we going to have another let down again this year? (Vs iowa)

The correct answer as a few others noted is ISU-Texas 2013.

Said it at half when we went stupid with prevent that I hope we don't pull a 2013 Texas game. Seems with the play on the field and a pair of bad calls - it was an damn near exact replica. Ugh.

Most certainly Kansas 2008 and Texas 2013. Only issue I have is the talking points are nearly the same after the defeat, great improvement from early season losses, learning to play together, still learning to win/finish. I also don't recall seeing that effort against a ranked/quality opponent later in the same year. So I certainly hope it wasn't an all in, shoot the moon effort from a wounded program against a team in a classic trap game, at home nonetheless. I hope the 'improvements" from week one to week 2 are still evident in IC next week.

Your next game will be a good one to judge what I'll call - and others here have already alluded to - the Mangino Effect. If this was all emotion Saturday and not a reflection of coaching and talent, yes it will clearly show at Iowa. But I sense, after that hair raising experience, that ISU has solid players who will continue to develop game-to-game. Coach Mangino won't allow them to quit, believe me. I've seen this play out before under far worse circumstances in Lawrence.

Finally, the game reminded me of 1999 as well
. I was up there for that one and couldn't believe it. David Allen saved the day.

It really feels like we're just going to run back the 2013 season again. So far we've already covered:
-Fan base destroying loss to an FCS program
-Questionable calls contributes to close gut punch loss in the Big 12 opener, crushing any early hope at reclaiming the season.

Looking forward to next week's not as close as the final score loss to Iowa and our big wins over Toledo, KU, and West Virginia.

All I could think was KU BB game. Still ****** at that and will be with this. Why doesn this always happen to the Cyclones?

Nevermind I know why................because we are the Cyclones.

This game wasnt remotely close to the Texas game. The Texas game last year will always be on top, by itself. This game was more like TCU last year.

Because we play in a crooked conference.

The "West play" at an extremely important juncture of the game was complete BS. If anyone else was having that play looked at, the decision would be that he had possession and his knee was down. Nope, not ISU. That play cost us the game, plain and simple.

Still, liked the guys effort in the contest. They need to continue that effort each and every game. The wins will come if they do that.
