This could probably be a recurring feature, in context of close losses to ranked teams — games in which ISU seemingly plays above expectations, looks like a good team for most of the day, but can't seal it.

Saturday's loss brought a couple to mind:
* vs. KU 2008
* vs. KSU 1999

Other examples?

Reminded me of this; never relax to enjoy the moment as a Cyclone football fan.

A stomach virus. You know how it comes on and you start to get this feeling like something's not right but you're still sorta okay and then all of the sudden you throw up.

...reminds me of when they don't have the talent or fundamentals to make that kind of a stop.

Those things pay off in situations like that.

Same for the offense: they're not built to be able to simply score in 30 game minutes.

and reminds me of the KSU game where we were up 28 - 0 at the half and lost 35 - 28.

Most certainly Kansas 2008 and Texas 2013. Only issue I have is the talking points are nearly the same after the defeat, great improvement from early season losses, learning to play together, still learning to win/finish. I also don't recall seeing that effort against a ranked/quality opponent later in the same year. So I certainly hope it wasn't an all in, shoot the moon effort from a wounded program against a team in a classic trap game, at home nonetheless. I hope the 'improvements" from week one to week 2 are still evident in IC next week.

I was thinking TCU last year. Fail to pick up a 3rd down conversion (3rd and 5 last year versus 3rd and 1 this year I believe) to run out the clock, followed by a TD drive for the loss.
