Thanksgiving food sins thread

Easily a worse food sin: This has happened to us before, and it’s simply unacceptable. Forgetting to make cranberry sauce.

I hate potlucks.
Agreed. I normally don't like to go to them but it was my grandma's funeral and you know small town Iowa. When a member of the community passes its mandatory for the old church ladies to get together and have a town potluck.

My Thanksgiving food sin is when hot foods are not hot and cold foods are not cold - usually because people show up late or they didn't have time to bake the item they're bringing to the meal so everything else gets delayed while that finishes. Everything ends up lukewarm and it's gross.

I've had all of the jello dishes mentioned growing up. The worst was the lime jello with green olives and celery. And they were dishes my grandparents made, so I would agree that these recipes probably came from the depression era.

Oh and that bag of "giblets" that comes with the turkey. Just throw it way. If you try to make "gravy" with those giblets (read as "catfish bait"), I'll know and be forced to mock you.
