Saw it on Twitter. Sorry, can't post the link for some reason but if you search for @aarondickens it should be one of the first tweets.

That...is sad.

How very Texas of them....most money in the country and they pull crap like this.

This is a must read if you haven't yet:

http://www.scout.com/college/texas/story/1556266-hd-exclusive-ad-patterson-facing-heat

"But more and more inside the Longhorn community are fed up with what they say is an athletic director who can’t or won’t relate to people and who puts making money or saving money above everything – even Texas student-athletes and coaches, who have seen cuts by Patterson impact them directly."

Wow, that sounds a lot like a former ISU AD who shall remain brainless.

I think this varies by school.

IIRC this is why we didnt send the full band to nebraska bitd as they would have charged us as well.

Yeah, I seem to recall this from my days as well. The band purchased a block of seats from the visitor's allotment to travel to road games. I'm sure if some schools want to work out some sort of reciprocal deal they can, but I don't think that is the standard.

We never send our band anywhere so I wouldn't be surprised if we always charge for opposing teams' bands. Really I think the only time we ever send our band is to Iowa and bowl games.

Wow, that's just backwards. They should pay them for the entertainment.

I wonder how long the Texas AD will last considering that article, considering he alienating the alumni and not listening to his boss.

Do we charge? I would assume we do the same but that's just a guess.

If I had to guess, I would bet that Iowa, Iowa State and UNI don't charge each other.

Well, the jury is still out but it looks like he might have whiffed on his first big hire in Charlie Strong. If Shaka Smart doesn't hit the ground running then the pressure will dial up another notch.

That isn't true. The full band traveled to Kansas City for the Florida State game and both K-State games. They were also at one of the KU games in Lawrence a couple years back. There may have been a couple others, but those were the road games I have been at where the full band traveled. They also used to send a smaller pep band to Nebraska.

Even if the hires work out for the school, will the University President still get rid of him due to his behavior? From a pure business stand point, what he is doing makes sense, considering his goal of reach $200 million in revenue. But the athletic department should be an extension of marketing and bringing in donations not only to the athletics department, but also academics as well. If he is upsetting the alumni, the academic side may be hurt along with alumni engagement in the university begin to fall.

The UNI band was huge and took up much of their allotment. They cost someone a ton, whether they had to buy the tickets or ISU ate the cost.
