Terrible defensive team

So when do you get tired of using that narrative? There's a reason all of these teams, including coppin state, hit everything. It's not luck.

Iowa State's defense is not the problem, the offense needs some work though.

Fell asleep on those step throughs. But the second half looked better, still not good. They need to figure out defense without perimeter help.

What in the hell are u talking about? Texas is hitting everything. What I see are Texas players with a hand in their face hitting shots. Can't do much about it. What I also see right now is every rebound falling to Texas long..everyone nearly. We have guys in position to rebound and everything is going long. It's ridiculous.
Sounds familiar, just insert next opponents name for Texas and you'll have the summary of that game as well.

We basically stink. We can't stop anyone. period. BAD D! On offense our spacing is atrocious, we don't pass around the horn, and we are NOT shooting threes. We miss Naz terribly. This year is going to be bad until our Head coach starts manning up and takes this team over. Hell, it's a school yard mentality and we suck at it. Coach, where is your leadership, your passion and yes, even your temper? Get some balls!

I think it has more to do with mental toughness and grit. This is a talented team. They are not deep, but I can name several ISU teams that were very successful with about the same depth.

I don't buy into conditioning. These are young men that spend their lives in the gym. There are times when fatigue can be overcome with a strong mind.

When I say grit I think of players like Jake Anderson, White, Kane, Hogue - guys that I would never want to get into it with, guys that lead through that grit and toughness. Not every player has to be that "kind of guy", but there is no doubt that players feed off of that.

This could be the first time since the reemergence of ISU's success that we have not had "that guy". This team can still have success, I have not given up on them, but they have to figure out leading in a different way. This team is just made up differently than the teams in the past. I believe the players are all trying to "figure that out" or trying to "be that man".

IMO this is where the coach will need to step in and be that leader and move them forward.

Good points. The problem it seems it isn't in some of the players nature to want to do the dirty work. Maybe there was a reason some of these players didn't get along with their old coach.

ISU doesn't defend the 3 and buys the shot fake every time. This a .500 team in the league.

I think they just don't want to put out the effort it takes to play defense.

They played pretty good D the last 5 of regulation. Just think if they would play that well for 15 mins a game.
If we could get our 90+% performance 100% of the time, we would be a top-10 team. In the past we have come close to getting that, but the under-lying asset is not a top-10 team.
