Terrible defensive team

Prohm needs to grow a pair and get into these guys. Defense is worse with essentially the same team. That's coaching.

Even Miles Simon is starting to get ****** at Iowa State's defense. WTF does Prohm have these guys do at practice? Practice alley oops for 2 hours?

It all boil down to depth. We don't expend the same energy as our opponents. Whether it's loose balls, fast breaks, rebounds, ball pressure, rotations,

We are horrible defensively and offensively we can't make up for it as we have no identity or adequate adjustments and the offensive genius is in Chicago.

What in the hell are u talking about? Texas is hitting everything. What I see are Texas players with a hand in their face hitting shots. Can't do much about it. What I also see right now is every rebound falling to Texas long..everyone nearly. We have guys in position to rebound and everything is going long. It's ridiculous.

So when do you get tired of using that narrative? There's a reason all of these teams, including coppin state, hit everything. It's not luck.

I would really like to see Ashton get in there. He's got a bigger body, and has decent handle. Need something from the defensive side of things. Even Ernst in there to give some fouls and make it dificult for people to score on a few possesions. Hoiberg got away with this 7 man rotational crap because he made the best of every offensive possession. We are not doing that right now.

I think it has more to do with mental toughness and grit. This is a talented team. They are not deep, but I can name several ISU teams that were very successful with about the same depth.

I don't buy into conditioning. These are young men that spend their lives in the gym. There are times when fatigue can be overcome with a strong mind.

When I say grit I think of players like Jake Anderson, White, Kane, Hogue - guys that I would never want to get into it with, guys that lead through that grit and toughness. Not every player has to be that "kind of guy", but there is no doubt that players feed off of that.

This could be the first time since the reemergence of ISU's success that we have not had "that guy". This team can still have success, I have not given up on them, but they have to figure out leading in a different way. This team is just made up differently than the teams in the past. I believe the players are all trying to "figure that out" or trying to "be that man".

IMO this is where the coach will need to step in and be that leader and move them forward.

Without depth, you have to have conditioning. No reason for college guys to get that worn out with effective conditioning.

But anyone who questioned depth before the season was an idiot... We are plenty deep!!!!! Jk
