Great finale to make up for easily the worst season. In fairness, this season did get better after Keeley went back to being a supporting character rather than the focus.

Kudos to them for knowing how and when to wrap up the story. Far too many shows have fallen into the trap of extending a series beyond it's natural conclusion.

I thought the first two seasons were great. Third season got a little to woke and preachy at times. I still wish they would have did a better job of the wonder boy's redemption. They just decided he was going to be good again. It didn't really make much sense. Other than that, it was a good show. Wonder if the show will reboot in the future with different coaches and so on.
The show has always been what a group of people would consider "woke and preachy". I can agree that the Nate story line could've used a little more fleshing out but it was still good. I do agree that the start of the season wasn't the strongest but the last half was really good

Yeah Keeley is great and the storyline of her growth and running her own business was good. It just took up too much screen time to start. There are too many other good characters. I posted somewhere else that from the Amsterdam episode on I thought this season was great and I think they stuck the landing in the finale

Fantastic ending to a fantastic show. Great messaging throughout and the humor was my kind. Now I’m laser focused on the return of Justified.

Haven’t caught the last episode yet, some stuff came up last night but I can’t wait. Top 5 show of all time easily for me. Roy Kent may be my favorite character in any show ever.

They almost had too much going on at once. But with each actor/actress being so good, they somehow pulled it off.

My back door neighbors are probably the most woke people I've ever met, were the first people to tell me about Ted Lasso, and was struggling to put into words how disappointed they were with the start of the season. I haven't talked to them in a few weeks so it sounds like they should be happy with how it ends.

My point is there are big fans of the show who really struggled to get into the season and it's not because they are dumb or homophobic. Blaming it on just that is a knee jerk reaction that is completely unfair.

So because they’re multiple gay characters in the show, it’s therefore bad?

I lean conservative and didn't see anything woke about this show. Absolutely loved everything about it and am sad that it's over. So what if there were gay people in the show, that's life. It's not like they went out of their way to shove it in anyone's faces to a point where it ruined the plot.

Yeah they juggled a lot of story lines and had to wrap them all up and I think they did a pretty damn good job with all of them which is hard.

Maybe they would be referring to the episode where Sam tweeted support for refugees and as a result suffered backlash and racist slurs. I thought that hit close to home.

I thought the show lost its way a bit early and mid season, but the finish was just heart warming. Critics are idiots.

When the team sang him the 'so long, farewell' thing after practice and the went nuts when Ted said it was perfect, I just died, it so perfectly encapsulated the spirit and message of the show.
There were some filler plots that drug. But man they
I haven't watched the final season yet, but basically everybody I know stopped watching after an episode or two and it's not because they are homophobic. I'll watch it now that I heard the ending is good but it's hardly some MAGA wing that is controlling the narrative here, those people weren't watching it in the first place.
Uh, were these people specifically whining about the show being “woke” all of a sudden like the poster I responded to?

We are talking about the most wholesome, feel good show on TV since Mr. Rogers neighborhood. I hope you aren’t naive enough to believe it’s all a coincidence that suddenly people started with the “woke” nonsense this season.

I'm struggling to figure out what was "woke and preachy" about this season if it's not the gay storylines.

I thought it was refreshing to see gay storylines handled so well. Also, Colin's coming out episode was like a big warm hug by a bunch of (non-toxic) masculine men. I'm in! :)

Yeah, i'm not sure either.

Is it overwhelmingly sunny in many ways and is that what's "preachy"? I hate to tell them but that's what this show has always been, and its why people loved it- it was a well needed dose of that when it dropped in the dark times of 2020

It mainly felt like they had a popular character in Keeley in season 1 but they really didn't know what to do with her afterward. She wasn't really part of the main arc (and maybe they'd planned to write her out originally but decided not to due to popularity or loving the actress) so they gave her a side story that's pretty disconnected from everything else.

Once her story got folded back into the main story in the back half of the season, the show killed it

I think it all comes down again to your perception of the show. Some of the criticism I saw on the "woke" stuff wasn't because it was "woke", but it involved some pretty bad, unrealistic dialogue. It involved conversations in the locker room that sounded more like a PSA than any type of realistic conversation between teammates. It wasn't so much preachy as it was unrealistic.

But as I mentioned before, it's not Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones. It's not a show predicated on depth of character development and complicated storylines. It's a show meant to convey a nice message, produce heart-warming moments and give you a few laughs. Someone described it as a Hallmark Christmas movie for men, which I think is pretty dead on.

So while some of the writing/dialogue this season wasn't real believable, for the show it was it worked just fine for me.
