Tailgate in Iowa City

See picture of hawk fan that refuses to recognize something everyone else knows is obvious, iowa city tailgating sucks. The next thing you will say is ISU really isn't a bigger university. You would rather have your small university in Iowa city any day because there are more students. You guys have an inferiority complex.

See, this is so hilariously inaccurate its almost sad. Unless of course your term "everyone" actually just means a few of your diehard clone buddies, which in that case, may be accurate. But the other hundreds of thousands of visiting college fans that have been to Kinnick over years would vehemently disagree with you.

I am not sure how all these posters are iowa city tailgating experts. I thought they stayed away from iowa city due to being accosted regularly.

be a lot more fun if there was no tailgating and you had to go to house partys like a child or to a bar..... am i right!

Exactly, that dang ample parking and large area to mingle in just pi$$e$ me right off! Put in a housing development, cut down on the parking availability around Arrowhead, and make people walk from downtown KC, then you'd be talking, perfect!!

Not this week. Closed do to wet grass. Seriously. This will make the space crunch on Saturday exponentially worse.

I always love the ********g matches that threads like these inevitably devolve into. Everyone has their own anecdotal experiences that they think define each fanbase and gameday environment. For the record, several of the older Iowa fans in my tailgating group that follow the team all over the country, refuse to ever set foot in Ames due to poor treatment at past ISU-Iowa games. By no means do I think this defines your fanbase, but it certainly does for some people.

In terms of your fabled "pregame experience", I've been to probably 150 or so Iowa games, including 11 roadies, and the one time I was in Ames, it would rank right near the bottom in terms of awesome tailgating environments. It was totally lame. I've had much more fun tailgating at places like Northwestern, Indiana, and Minnesota, and for a few of those games total attendance was a fraction of what you typically get in Ames. This is just my personal experience. If you all enjoy it, great. I'll take my cramped, crowded yard in IC 100 times out of 100.

I meant the Finkbine Commuter Lot. Not the grass lot at the golf course. But yes, might want to get there earlier than planned due to the apparent lack of parking in other areas.

Looks awesome. Where else can you pull out a cooler out of a van and drink in an parking lot with so few people around. Looks like a blast.

That's not Iowa City? That's Tempe. Melrose in Iowa City is abuzz with activity on game day.

I'm probably going to try to park at Hancher Auditorium. Any ideas on how early I would need to be there to get a spot?

Well except when they're writing something positive about ISU of course... then it's an acceptable source of content.

Uhh no, everyone around here hates the bleacher report, a question for you, are you writing this from your parents house or the library? I know that you don't have internet in your trailer so please explain.
