Switching sidelines next Year

I think this is great news. It's stupid to have our guys staring into the sun. And that stupid criss-crossing of the teams at half. . .

I don't see any downside other than a few seating relocations. Which I imagine some people will be disappointed by that.

Yes, there are a lot of advantages, however one downside is that it will be a lot colder for the home team standing in the shade on a November afternoon. Just ask Kliffy Kingsbury. That is the tradeoff for not having the sun in your eyes on the bench and having more shade in the heat of the early part of the season.

Love the change. I hope our students shout away at the visiting team. Also, is there a certain number of tickets we have to give away to visitors? Would like if we could give less. Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Kansas, and Oklahoma State all suck at traveling anyways.

If I remember correctly weren't the first 5 rows behind the ISU bench for families and recruits. Two or three sections worth of seating I think. Hopefully Sec 2 is safe, been there for 10+ years and have made more friends than enemies.

So now our QB will look into the sun when he looks at the sideline next fall.

It seems to me that somewhere JP said the reason why ISU was always on the east side was for TV exposure. Why the heck does that matter? The game is already being played in Ames and there will be plenty of ISU exposure from shots of the fans, team, stadium, etc.
The ISU bench has always been on the east side long before TV started covering all the games. I think it had more to do with the players getting the warmth from the sun in October and November.

I'm more concerned about the students rushing the field after big wins. They'll rush the field right into the visiting team and their efforts to get off the field. At the very least, I'd move them to the Southeast corner to avoid this. At least until CMC gets us to the level of prominence that we no longer feel the need to rush the field.

No different than it is today. The opposing team has to run through students rushing the field to get to their locker room.

It's not the reason we haven't been great at football, but how funny would it be if THIS of all things was the reason we haven't been great? Switch sides, all of a sudden unbeatable at home.

I was told it was bad for our coaching staff to look into the sun. So why isn't it bad for our QB to look into the sun.
You sound really bitter about the move. I guess I couldn't tell you. Guess our QB's will just have to survive like all the home teams everywhere around the nation that have to look west towards the sideline.

Correlation (or coincidence) not causation.

After the new locker room was announced, he got asked several times if that meant the team would be switching to the west side and JP said something along the lines "no, we want to stay on the east side for the added TV exposure. Many other major schools cross like this and there aren't any issues" even though Geno Smith pushed Wally Burnham to the ground during the very first game the teams had to cross.

If your new coach wants to move the bench, you move the bench.

I think Rhoads was very involved in this decision.

Maybe it isn't much of an issue since we play the majority of our games at night or 11 am kickoffs.
