Switching sidelines next Year

So I am guessing the new visitors section will become 26-27/S-T and ticket holders there will be offered a swap into the old visitors section (15-16/H-J).

Although I suppose it would be an opportunity to downgrade the visitor section seats now that the SEZ is finished. Maybe move it to, say, 25/Q-R instead.

I really like my section and the people in it. I'm going to be pissed if my section is one that gets moved. Any ideas on who gets the boot?

As a student, I can already tell you this is going to end horribly. Can you imagine the things that are going to be yelled at the opposing team all game. But at the same time I'm not sure if that's a bad thing.

Yes, Yes i can. I was on the receiving end heckling after I received a 15 yard late hit penalty at Okie St. in 2000. I have long thought that our students need to be behind the visitors bench to harass them!!

I kind of liked being next to the visitor section as it was always empty and you could take over more space in that area. I also like being warm and in the sunshine. Hmm. tough choices.

The bad thing was it was almost always visiting fans around us and never the same people. That kind of sucks but it didn't surprise me because someone could make some money with those cheap tickets.

Seems like a good change for multiple reasons:

*Teams won't cross anymore to leave the field
*Student section behind the visitors team
*Sun out of ISU players eyes after noon
*Visiting coaches in press box can't steal signals as easily (saw this from Brent Blum on Twitter)

The football staff felt all year that visiting teams in the pressbox steal their signals much easier looking right at the football staff rather than from behind. It's a competitive disadvantage.

Wouldn't surprise me. I was telling my wife the check down plays based on what Golesh signaled in.

The only downside is now the loud mouth father and son duo in front of me will be more encouraged to act a fool because the coaches and players will be closer and might hear them.

Ugh. I moved away from the visiting team section, especially for when they bring a band. I loved hearing our band instead of theirs.

I like where I sit now, but if all the changes bring about more wins, then I will gladly move my seats. I just like sitting close enough to the bathrooms so I can go and get back easily during a timeout.

I hope we move all the visitors to the upper rows. Doesn't Nebraska do this along with some other teams by putting all of the visitors allotment in their upper rows?

Mods, please change thread title to "Switching Sides Next Year". This thread is lacking in the hilarity department.

Nebraska visitors seats are awful. Some upper corner and it seems like the seats are set up to look at the other side of stadium and not the field. They also try to indoctrinate you with "Husker Vision."

Went to the Hokeye game this year. Seemed like there was no visitor's section. Just pockets of cardinal red scattered around the endzone.

Yeah, 'bout time we give the visitors bad seats. I'm looking forward to being behind the Cyclones going forward. I couldn't believe what a classless jerk Holgersen was last week. I've seen players respond to the crowd, but never a head coach.

I am outraged! Now how am I supposed to heckle the visiting team from the west side?!? :jimlad:

In all seriousness, this is a good move. As another poster said above, there are multiple great reasons for the move. I noticed last weekend WVU has poster boards held up to block the signals being made on the field. ISU didn't have that ability to block line of sight between the press box and signal callers on the east side. Plus, it was stupid to have the teams intersect on the field anyways.

It seems to me that somewhere JP said the reason why ISU was always on the east side was for TV exposure. Why the heck does that matter? The game is already being played in Ames and there will be plenty of ISU exposure from shots of the fans, team, stadium, etc.
