Sutton fired at OSU

Man if Self went to OSU, I would be all over those Jayhawk boards like,,,,like Roger Sprague from Mizzu. And if not him, I would be like Mr. Jumbo(plus meaningless numbers) dude from Kansas State.

It would be on like Donkey Kong Baby!!!!!

I hope we see this scenario. Self goes to OSU and Appleton decommits and then we swoop in a get him.

I know Kansas is probably losing some of their guard court...but you still have to wonder why KU would go the JC route?

Doug Gottlieb stated that okie state is willing to pay up to 5million to get the coach that they want...aka a coach who can get them to the final four every other year!!

I'll just throw this one out there...when is texas gonna fire rick barnes for his failures to get to the final 4 on a regular basis.....

If I have a 130 million dollar budget and I cant see the final 4 regularly its time for a new basketball coach!!

I don't doubt they have that goal but hopefully they realize they can't just pay someone $5 million and that's automatically going to happen.

Guessing that is sarcasm..Barnes 10 years have yeilded 1 final four; 2 elite eights; 2 sweet sixteens; 10 straight tournament appearences.

I'd fire him for not being productive enough:confused:

I always kind of had this feeling that OSU might end up paying a high "price" for Boone's money. If OSU gets into revolving coaching scenarios in the major sports because nobody can live up to Boone's expectations, they are headin' for disaster, with gorgeous facilities mind you, but disaster nonetheless...

Agreed. When I saw his interview on Real Sports I thought the exact same thing.

Self pretty much shut down speculation in his press conference. When he was finally asked about it he said he loved his alma mater but he would basically tell them if they're thinking about contacting him he would strongly suggest they don't.

Re: Sean Sutton resigns

Jokes on them. Okie State will now be everyones doormat. .....Here's hoping! =)

Re: Sean Sutton resigns

I think it would be the hardest thing to do when you have a successful program under a great coach and you name thier son a successor. Time will tell but I think same thing may happen at Tx Tech with good ole boy Pat Knight. Who knows though it has worked well so far for Keno Davis but he may not be at Drake very long if he keeps up what he's doing. It also worked well for Tony Bennett. Sean may have done better too, he just wasn't given much time.

While I have nothing against OSU, I certainly hope that we can rise above them because of this "setback." However, we have to remember one name - BOONE PICKENS. This donor will assure that OSU will be able to buy the best available coach out there. That's a source of concern for me.

Re: Sean Sutton resigns

Some programs just "expect to win" ....guess what? In life we usually get what we "expect". It seems to me that ISU and fans just "settle" rather than "expect"

Re: Sean Sutton resigns

Bill Self? Not as crazy as you would think. He played there, is from there, has family from there, and they can pay him a **** ton of money.

If he loses in the championship game and then leaves for OSU it would be very Roy Williams like. Loses to the cuse and goes to UNC. Kansas fans would start feeling like like crap

Re: Sean Sutton resigns

This surprises me. True he was handed quite a bit of talent and this years team underachieved, but two years is not much time to prove one self. I have to think Eddie Sutton was a great teacher too.

Re: Sean Sutton resigns

Why is their football coach still there?
