If Janny won't, I'll totally go to a Hall and Oates concert with you, Angie.

Next time they're anywhere in the tri-state area, it's so on. Because you're awesome. Seriously, anyone who recognizes the pop genius of Darryl Hall and John Oates is the best.

Might seem like an odd question, but has The Book of Mormon ever been in Des Moines or just in Iowa generally...? Trying to convince my wife (one born in Wisconsin that grew up in Florida) that Iowa is "cultured' and has such relevant amenities; a stopover in Iowa would help my portfolio/case considerably towards moving back her with there in the next few years.

It was here in Des Moines at the Civic Center last year.

I saw it at the Des Moines civic center on its first US tour in 2013.

also Hamilton is coming 2018

Turnpike troubadours killed it tonight. Great show and great venue in downtown DM.

They sure did.

I've never seen ISU gear so badly outnumber Iowa gear at a public non-sporting event outside of Ames. I also saw people wearing gear of every Big 12 school save Baylor, TCU, and WVU.

Turnpike is among my go-to "farming music", and the crowd definitely backed that up. Something about it seems so right with wide open skies, dust flying, and machinery rolling.

I noticed the gear too. A lot of Kansas State gear especially it seemed. I just don't think of wearing Iowa state gear to a concert I guess.

Lots of Iowa state gear out at the restraunts, bars, and farmers market though.

I saw the K-State stuff right away. A bunch of it towards the back of the amphitheater in the middle.

I don't normally wear "team" stuff to concerts either, but I did have a grey ball cap with strutting Cy on it, so I guess I was part of the representation too.

Not a summer concert, but I just got my tickets for Iron and Wine at the Palace Theater in St. Paul in October. This will be my fourth time seeing him. The Palace Theater sounds like it's a neat venue that just recently re-opened after being closed for a long time, so I'm looking forward to it.

Oooo that sounds like a good show! I have heard good things about the Palace Theater. I am seeing Gary Clark Jr. there in August.

My 3 concert reviews so far that I went to

Hall and Oats was awesome. However, I fully admit most of it was because of the people I went with and the basic party we had at the show. It was a blast. We acted like idiots

Chilli Peppers were awesome. Light show was one of the best I have seen. Only let down was not playing Higher Ground (Stevie Wonder Remake). However, I am fully aware they can't play everyones favorite songs.

Metallica, Volbeat, Avenge

Volbeat was awesome. Was kind of a fan but they really brought it. Played some Johnny Cash. Warrior was on point.

Avenge was ok. Mostly bathroom break stuff. They are not a bad band but they are opening act worthy for a reason. They are not going to outshine the top dogs

Metallica. Have seen them 10 times. This was the best. The atmosphere was so good. The weather was great. Great all around even outdoors. Metallica was on point. They were very tight when they played. Loved it

Up next. The beach boys and no I am not joking. Drinking with girls and beach boys songs is fun if you have never gone and seen them.
