Student turnout is apalling

First, the argument that "ISU has sucked for 6 years" is not really a good one. The team doesn't suck now. All that argument does is suggest that the students are unable to figure out that ISU has a good MBB team worthy of watching, which is not particularly flattering for the students.

Secondly, as someone said earlier in the thread, the Hilton atmosphere will likely never be like it was. In the Orr days, the student ticket seat blocks rotated throughout the entire arena. The students would stand, and it forced everybody else to stand, and gradually, the "old people" would get into the game. I'd love for this to happen again, but the current money-driven nature of college athletics just isn't going to permit that to happen.

They would make a lot more than $330 a seat for those parquet seats. A season ticket costs $495 and you have to give $2,500 a year just for the rights to buy them. A few hundred seats in the parquet section of mens basketball games isn't providing any leverage for keeping or dropping the student fees. JP doesn't want to reduce the seats because he wants to give students a quality opportunity to see their team.

The thing that people can't wrap their heads around is why the students don't want to show up. The excuse is bad basketball. Why then, did they buy the tickets? If this was a problem selling the tickets it would be easier to understand. They have the tickets, the team is good, they don't show up. It doesn't make sense to a lot of people.

Get rid of second tier seating for students(NO student wants to sit up there). Keep the seats behind the basket. Give the seats behind the benches, up to the concrete divider to the students. Not as many student seating, but I guarantee it fills up every game and it opens the second tier seating for the general public which should fill up nicely for your average conference game.

This. You want to see a full student section? Give us these seats. I've been saying this forever. You want to be like the Cameron Crazies or Gonzaga's student section? These are the seats they are given. Just have this be the student section and I promise you it will be full and then the regular ticket buyers can have behind the basket and the upper tier. Problem solved.

Ha! Nice. So student redemption rates are 39% and you want to displace people who regularly show up for those whose turnout rate is laughable? How about you show that you can get a 50% attendance rate before you get an upgrade! Unbelievable.

This was a small example of empty rows for the ENTIRE arena. I have 3-4 more pictures as well. Blame the student section for poor attendance (it was), but then blame the entire arena. According to some people's logic on here Hilton should be sold out for each game and it wasn't last night.

If you bought a ticket for every game in those 3.5 years and then didn't bother to show up then yes, you suck as a fan.

Most games the parquet hasnt been a problem, its the balcony (so you really are comparing to $99, no donation seats, not high level donor seats) and last night there were holes all over the parquet. There were people all over who didnt make that game because it was a 1 win TTU team.

It wouldn't be the same numbers. There are what, 10 rows between the benches and the concrete wall? There are at least 20 rows alone in the lower portion of CA let alone the seats above the concrete wall. Plus it would be better seats for students to get in the game. I'm trying to solve a problem and made my opinion. It seems to me someone like you will always have something to ***** about.

What a genius idea. Lets displace a bunch of people/corporations that, on top of paying top dollar for those seats, give a TON of money to ISU every year, and then gives those seats to students who only show up if we are winning games or playing a top quality opponent. Even BVD wasn't that big of an idiot...

Yes, I will have something to say about a solution that displaces people who pay in total likely 20x what students pay for tickets when the students haven't proven that they care to show up even when they have tickets.

The entitlement attitude is unbelievable. I'm only 30 but you're making me sound like a crotchety old man!

There's been tons of discussion on here comparing us to other student sections, so if we're going to compare how about we see where they sit. Majority of them sit on the side. For the AD and money wise it would be stupid, but so many on here want to fill up the arena so this would be a good idea.

A majority of university's do not have their students sitting on the sides. I would bet it less then 20%...
 
I think that at a collegiate athletic event, students should "out attend" the rest of the folks. Call it crazy or "back in my day" syndrome, but that's really all I'd like to see.

There are 5 rows in arena circle and each seat costs between $1,100-$1,700/seat ticket/season. These will not go to students, nor will they.

There are gaps, but consistently these are fuller.

This pays the cost for the team to fly to away games and make money to cover the bottom line.

There is a waiting list of folks donating $2,500 who want to move down from the balcony.

It will not happen, regardless of how anyone feels either way. (referring to student section moving).

So if you include your donation, do I include my $9,000 in tuition that I have to pay for the rights to buy my tickets?
