Student turnout is apalling

"You suck at cheering and you aren't doing a good enough job at getting your peers that you don't know to come to the game."
After EVERY game.

Wouldn't that **** you off?

I'm a student and go to every game, and it doesn't irk me at all. The student turnout is pretty poor.

In football, it seems like the majority of the time, there are a lot of people in the student section that just like to have fun which makes the section much more rowdy. In my opinion, Cyclone Alley makes it much more difficult to achieve this. It's much harder to get these casual fans into games because of the ridiculous rules/requirements and structured nature of Cyclone Alley. It generates absolutely no excitement.

Maybe, unless I didn't open said ******** threads. You know what's going to be in a thread like this. If you don't want to see it, don't read it.

A few of my thoughts on the attendance.

1. These threads are pointless.

2. The current student ticket system does not work, and can not be fixed until at least next year, so there is no reason to continually complain about it.

3. It was on Wednesday (a test night for some people I know), and against Texas Tech (Who is turrrible).

4. **** Cyclone Alley.

5. At the game I decided to sit up with my parents in the upper deck in section 216. I was standing up any time something good happened for Iowa State. Because I was standing and showing my support for my school, I was constantly yelled at by multiple oldies to sit my *** down. Those guys really know how to deflate any excitement at a basketball game.

I go to every game an hour and 15 minutes early to get "my spot" next to the Huge I State tarp covering that square hole.

This thread is stupid as the old people are the ones that suck the atmosphere out of the place.

Plus everyone on this site IS A ******* FANATIC. Anyone posting in this thread who wasn't at the game needs to shut their ******* mouth. I do my part, what do you do? That's right, you sit at home and complain about cyclone alley and how the students don't do **** for a ****** TTech team.

These threads **** me off more than anything else, and it's pretty pathetic that some people need to call out our OWN fan base for attendance when we have some of the best attendance in the nation.

I've been to all the home games this year, and it pisses me off when I have to read about this all the time.

Cyber I thought you were going to start this thread?

But I agree with you! I knew this would happen. We win a game by 18 and someone has to ******* *****. By the way, when we were taking a run later on in the game the students were making noise as the other people clapped but only for 2 seconds. Like Cyber said it's a shame we have to call out our own fans for something so childish... Good job guys, your so much better than us!

My friends and I go 2 hours early to every game to get front row. Is it disappointing that CA isn't packed? Yeah, but there are bigger and better things to ***** and moan about in this world.

 I got there like 10 minutes early and there were like 15 people waiting in front of the door. You must have been awful lonely.

Guys, I HATE to be this guy. I love everything about Iowa State University, but "Hilton Magic" will never be the same as it was in the past, you can't duplicate that. Go Cyclones.

these threads aren't directed at the kids who show. they are directed to people who decide how the student section is run. 5 years in a row ... the student section is always at least 20% empty at every game. lots of missed revenue and atmosphere.

hopefully it all changes finally.

This is exactly who they are directed at.

As a student I am pretty disappointed with students showing up. There is no reason why there should be that many seats open. Can't people that are studying just plan ahead and maybe study more the night before, more during the day, or even just stay up a little later tonight and study? Not that big of a deal to take a couple hour break.
Get real. Students don't plan ahead. I've gotten about 30 emails today from students trying to get rid of shifts for intramurals tomorrow night.

Revenue? The little money from concessions? The tickets are already purchased. Iowa State doesn't see much from concessions so lots of missed revenue is flat out wrong.

The doorway we stand at every game is packed to the max with people a half hour before the doors open, tonight it even overflowed outside.

I'm a student, have been to every game this year, and it upsets me that we don't have more show up. I had a couple guys I normally go with just decide not to go, which doesn't make sense to me. If you spend the money on the tickets, why wouldn't you want to go to the games? At least be courteous enough to transfer your ticket and shirt to a friend if you know you can't go.

I think the students that do show up are doing a heck of a job though. Lot of good signs, people going crazy, and Cyclone Alley is doing it's best to get people to show with the rewards program they have going on. Plus, I saw an empty beer can in the student section while I was leaving, so you guys can't say people aren't trying to be rowdy :jimlad:

LOL

I always planned ahead when it came to going to basketball games. There was nothing else I looked forward to more than going to Hilton. I'm obviously in the minority though.

1. We need more generalized seating where people that want to stand and cheer can do so in a section with others than can stand and cheer.

2. First come first serve for students, those that want to be there will be there. In big games like Kansas we can hold the seats as more students are likely to show up.

3. Test nights are stupid, especially on a Wednesday when we play 95% of our games that are played on a week night.

4. If no one complains, how does CA/ISU Athletic Dept. determine what needs to be changed? This is the #1 Cyclone fan site on the net, if ISU Athletic Dept. reads any site regarding fan interests, it's this one.

missed rvenue as in selling to someone like me who would pay 3 times as much as a student to sit down low.

Cyclone Alley Is dumb but I do enjoy my shirts that I get I like Sitting Close to the action and I kinda like the reward part thing. I dunno I think cyclone alley should continue but the University needs to take a look at how tickets are distributed. I hate how I have to have my id. and it takes for ever!!

with the non filled seats in the upper deck, iowa state already has there money so why should they care. Maybe because they might sell a pop or a hot dog here and there?

is it embarrassing yes!
