Student turnout is apalling

seriously? student attendance sucked, but so did everwhere else. I had a half a row empty in the parquet in front of me. tons of empty seats everywhere. I thought about taking pictures for the inevitable thread (they are really getting old) but figured I'd watch the game instead. one year where the rest of the crowd doesn't suck and all of a sudden they have to feel superior by calling out the students. we won, ******* enjoy it!

I think you should post this in the "Relativism Argument" thread.

I wonder how those Duke kids do it? They must not have homework and tests at Duke. Really, you aren't the first students at Iowa State to have a lot to do. Real fans still find time to make it to the game.

These posts, calling out students who miss games for ACTUAL WORK always **** me off. Yeah, the showing tonight wasn't great, and other students who didn't have anything to do could have filled in.

However, for students who actually, you know, do have stuff to do, missing a chunk at night, from 7-10 at a minimum, is just not realistic when it's a game against a team like Tech. The students have their own things they need to get done as well, they don't owe anything to a bunch of players who are attending school for free, and get all of the academic support and help they could ever need.

I quit going to basketball games as a student when CA started. I don't regret the decision.

more students than posters on cyclonefanatic.com showed up. and most of them aren't self-involved law students or skilless writers.

If the students showed up then maybe Al wouldn't have to start a thread? It's not like it's someone with 3 posts starting the thread. CW then seconded what Al said so apparently it's a legitimate concern. Don't be like Iowa students, show up to the game in force!

It must be nice being an alum and being able to constantly call out students for every single thing. Get over yourselves.

Thus your conclusion is that student attendance was perfectly fine and acceptable? I assume then that the current system is deemed to be in great shape and we should make no changes whatsoever.

Of course there are but why is the upper deck empty pretty much every game?

fair question..studying beats watching a basketball game against Texas Tech...and yes I was studying..I was listening to the game while I study..got a calc midterm tomorrow.

My conclusion was that calling out students on an internet message board is not going to solve anything. Also, calling people "not real fans for not showing up" as one poster noted, is kind of a shot in the dark low blow.

The rule that sticks out to me is the t-shirt. Seriously? Where's the fun in not being able to put your own spin on the shirt?

Can someone just close this thread? The only thing we are accomplishing with this is ******* off students that are just now getting back from the game.

I always used going to basketball games as a study break. Have to take a break sometime.
