Storms

I never knew Ankeny got it so bad. Better go make sure the sump pump worked. I was away from home all day.
 
Worked tonight at kum and go on 1st street near the interstate. Was outta power from 6 until i left at 11 and a police officer came and told me parts of ankeny could be out for the whole night into tomorrow. There are alot of down lines and on ankeny blv. there was a whole pole down.
 
was on a bicycle 2 miles deep in the woods with 2 fishing poles and backback. got daaaarenched! not the most relaxing way to finsih the day.

Watched 10 pm news on Saturday and the wonderful ol' Futurecast showed the storms firing up around 7pm on Sunday. Left boat uncovered in driveway and it's now holding water inside.

Lesson learned.

I had water in my finished basement in ankeny for the 3rd effing time in 3 years. I was at a wedding all weekend and I got home about 7:00 PM, apparently the power had been out since about 6:00, and we didn't get it back until 12:30. Backup battery in the sump pump didn't work.
 
I was out on I80, just west of Colfax when it hit. Traffic came to a near stop for most people. Winds out there weren't terrible, but you couldn't see with the sheets of rain.

Neighbor had a main trunk of her 70' maple down over her detached garage. Thing couldn't have fallen more perfectly. Didn't hit the garage with full force and landed on the drive between her house and the next house - a space of maybe 20'. Avoided all kinds of potential damage. Missed her picture window by mere inches.
