State Wrestling

I don't really know the whole story, but of what I saw, Kyven Gadsen is a complete ******* tool. I am officially ashamed he's going to be a cyclone

taunting the indianola fans (i am not one of them) after the match he should have lost

imo, they should have taken a team point away, idk if they did or not.

ya i think it's safe to say we're keeping our eye on him. and hopefully cory clark as well-both sophomores and have yet to lose in their career.

cyclone comit updates:

jones to the semis with an 8-4 win
moreno to the semis by fall in 1:17
gadsen to semis by fall in 1:59

Meeks is really good but will probably go to Neb. with his brother. The only thing that may help is the Asst. coach Al Garrison. He's done a great job working with some of the kids specifically on how to beat others that are better than them. That's how Nicholson beat St. John last year and why Reily has been able to beat Knight this year. Garrison wrestled at ISU. Clark is by far one of the most dominating HS wrestlers I have seen in a long long time. He's Dan Knight or Mark Schwab good. In two years I don't think I've seen him challenged. Not sure where he's going but I'd be taking a look at him now.

Another one to keep an eye on is Jake Marlin from Creston. He's a fr. 130 pounder and is in the finals tonight. He won a semifinal OT match like 13 -2. So far he's something an 0. Undefeated as a fresh so far at that weight is something. That's also where Long won his 3 state titles.

Time to go. The grand march is starting.

nah i dont think john will go to nebby he wears isu stuff whenever i see him with college stuff on so i think we got the inside track he's got a better head on his shoulders than blake

ISu has some connections with the Meeks kid. Id say we have a descent shot at him. The young Clark kid from SE polk and the Sorenson from Denver Tripoli are going to be big time recruits.

I don't know about that call in 2OT, but I forgot, if he would have held on, would he have won the match?

might have been the 3rd OT but yes....had he held the guy down he would have won...the ref made the right call as it was a text book stall by the Bett kid

That whole type of win is a catch-22. If you do what you're able to do in any other period, you're fine. In double OT (I consider SV and Ride outs 1 OT), if you do the same thing, it's stalling.

Because that determines who wins and loses, it's alright, and was a good call. I don't htink it should come down to that kind of judgment call though.

Huh, looks like City Wests' coach is actually caring about how his kids do tonight, and dressed like an actual head coach. At districts all he did was slouch and look like he was about to fall asleep in his jeans and sweater.

My alma matter not doing too bad, currently in 2nd in 3A. I wish more kids from WSR would go to State sick of seeing them all go to Iowa City.

As a Waverly-Shell Rock grad and I couldn't agree more. Love to see the Go-Hawks do well, hate seeing them become Hawkeyes.

1. City West coach is not an example of a great head coach.
2. The OT stalling call was the right call
3. Gadson is a BEAST.
