State Wrestling

Some excellent matches today. Looking forward to 2A semis. Especially 125, Wolfensperberger DT and Rutz Humboldt, 140 Noble Colum. Junct. and Hiatt Ballard (both undefeated), 152 Sorenson DT and Berger Carroll. I understand most semis/finals are great matches, but those are 3 that will draw a lot of attention.

Is Jackson a recruit? Assumed he would be, being coaches son, but wasn't sure how good he was or if he had signed on.

might wanna keep an eye on 3-a 125 jon meeks (sophmore) of roosevelt returning state champ and has yet to lose a varsity match. riley would go to isu if offered he loves ckj.

Why would you assume that? So KJ can be like Dan Hawkins or Todd Lickliter? I'm not trying to mouth off but I don't know if he is of ISU caliber to have him sign. As for him wrestling at ISU I think he would probably walk on. If he does so he would be one hell of a steal .

Not sure what he is actually going to do though.

I didn't know anything about him, other than he was ranked 5th in his weight. Hadn't heard if he signed or not though, however with wrestling can't you sign as many as you want, but only use ~10 scholarships?

Funny how that works with schools......In two years Iowa could have 5-6 starters from the same high school

you are right Northern Iowa - D1 College Wrestling

you would think being a probable 3 timer would get you to a better program then uni.

His father wrestled for UNI.

As for Jackson he wants to play football. Apparently going to the Juco route in hopes of playing for CPR someday. Or at least thats what I heard.

I think ISU would take Riley but apparently he wants big money and ISU cant/wont offer the big money.

My alma matter not doing too bad, currently in 2nd in 3A. I wish more kids from WSR would go to State sick of seeing them all go to Iowa City.

Hats off to all you guys who have kept me up-to-date with the state wrestling (first time in nearly 30 years I have not been able to attend -- I am going through withdrawal right now).

UNI has some good kids coming in to that program...no reason they shouldnt be back in the top 25

There is one REALLY big reason.....some fella by the name of Penrith. He's had plenty of solid recruits over the past few years and has very little to show for it.

As for Weatherman being a probable 3 timer, I think ISU recruit Mike England might have something to say about that. He is tearing through people right now. Assuming they both get there, Weatherman vs. England will be one of the premier championship matches.
