I don't think a lot of people realize how bad our line is. Nealy and Wimberly behind a good line this year would have been awesome. I almost feel bad for Wimberly for coming here. Until we have a solid O Line, none of our RBs will be very successful. I am glad we have been able to keep a decent stable here, hope the O Line can get there soon.
You would probably fill more gaps if you stand in one spot and let the action come to you instead of our linebackers who run out of position.I emailed Rhoads last week about tryouts. Still waiting for an email.
I haven't lifted a weight in 4 years, but I'm really good in NCAA Football at finding the gaps, and blocking when I need to. I think if I workout 2-3 times a month, I'd be in good enough shape.
Just not sure if "ISUCubswin" will fit on my jersey
Running back was also not the solution.I agree completely!
RB was not the problem at all with this year's team. And it won't be the problem next year either. We have plenty of good enough RBs that can do the job if holes are created for them.
Neeley does not have enough oomph to break tackles after a yard gain.Warren is the real deal. I could see him starting, and I could see Nealy starting then Warren quickly taking over. Neither would surprise...
Similar to the Harris/Miller thing. Harris will be better than Miller at LB, but Miller was ahead with the playbook and would have started so the gave Harris the RS.
Running back was also not the solution.
RB's did not hurt us this year. With no blocking it doesn't matter.
Wimberly especially was good enough to run for a LOT of yards with any kind of blocking at all.
I think Nealy will start but we need to find ways to use his skills. We wasted 4 years of Jarvis's West abilities, we need to find non traditional ways to get DN involved. He needs to be running reverses from the slot, catching bubble screens etc. Pigeon holing him into a pure RB is wasting his talent. We need to find ways to get him in space and let him make plays. He isn't a 1000yrd rushing type of guy but he could def be a 1000yd from scrimmage guy.
This is it in a buttonhole. We have talents and the staff fails to fully utilize them. They need to get smarter next year. We do not appear to be an organized team or well planned as a game goes along.
