Ok, Im sure Im going to catch some crap for the options I give in the poll, but I did it this way for a few reasons..

1. I intentionally left off the option of "I just want whoever is best to start"
Yeah, I do too. So do 95% of cyclone fans. 95% of us have absolutely no bias and really don't care who plays as long as the teams plays well and wins.

2. I, like many others, am just curious to find out what cyclone fanatic thinks about the QB race. I for one have been back and forth constantly who I think should be the starter and its getting very close to that time when CPR and staff have to make the decision.

3. I think both QBs will play a significant amount of time in the first game.

**Vote multiple times**

Again, this has nothing to do with "trusting the staff" etc. Your vote will not be public, so just give your opinion!

I WANT Steele, but in the pit of my soul, I think JB will start

I'm the direct opposite. I feel like CPR likes Jantz's potential and is trying to find every reason to name him the starter...Jantz's upside is much higher than JB's, IMO. However, for the betterment of longevity, Id rather JB start as he will probably be the guy for the next two years. Obviously, Sam Richardson is the X factor in all of this...as I have never seen the kid play yet, Im eliminating him from my opinions.

Think SJ
Want JB

I'm afraid I ended up voting this way. The latter part influenced by which side of the perpetual argument was more annoying. Some of the Jantz mafia are clearly the worst. You know who you are.

If Jantz has his boneheaded plays cleared up we might be in fair shape for the season.

So if you want someone different that who you think will start does that mean CPR made the wrong choice?

I think Steele will start. If they're even in practice, Barnett is easier to prepare for and will be more effective coming off of the bench. I also think CPR is going to have an ol' ball coach-like trigger finger this year.

Not in the least. I can want my kid to start in her soccer league but that doesn't mean that the coach made the wrong choice in starting a player who is playing better.

Why would someone have an emotional attachment to a college QB though?

thats a tough one to answer 3truefans (original comment)

i don't really want to post this, but in some instances, coaches aren't always right. troy davis riding pine comes to mind. or that northern illinois QB that played against us, only to be benched and the new QB finish an 11-0 season. It doesn't necessarily mean the fans knew the whole time.. but rather, they just happened to be right.

I don't know if I would agree with this. Just watching what they both did last year, you always knew that SJ was going to hand it off on the zone read. Barnett was better at reading the end and making the right call to keep or hand off.

I disagree. I think you want to instill confidence in your starter. He can't be looking over his shoulder every time something goes wrong, thinking he will be pulled. This would completely disrupt the team in my opinion.

I know of one poster who knew one QB before he came to ISU so he has a really good reason to. But other than that it is a fair question. For others they may like one player over another because they like his style playing, like how he deals with the media, fans or teammates. There are a lot of reasons that people develop preferences of one person over another.

Frankly for me I find myself rooting against one QB because I know how insufferable some posters are while there is a battle and I can only imagine how bad they will be if their incessant crowing proves to be right. They've got pretty much a 50-50 chance of being right on who wins the battle but I'm sure their **** won't stink if they happen to be right. Never mind that if they were right all along to the level they post about it, it would never have been even close to a battle in the first place. On the other hand, if they aren't right, I'm sure it will be our coaching staff that will be wrong.

I still really do want both of our QB's in the race to be successful. I don't like rooting against either one of them.
