Starting Lineups

Anyone think Rhoads won't start Richardson because of ego? If Richardson does well, Rhoads will take heat. If Richardson comes in and plays bad, Rhoads will take heat.

No. Rhoads will take a win over ego any day of the week, and twice on Saturdays. And only the uninformed will give Rhoads heat if Sam comes in and does well. Just because a redshirt freshman is ready to play the BAYLOR defense on the last weekend of October does not mean he was ready to play the Iowa defense at the begining of September.

Not quite 200 yards in each game....his highlight game was TCU when he went a whopping 12-21 for 183 yards and 3 TD's - of course 125 of that came off of 2 plays. So besides the 2 big plays he was 10-19 for 58 yards and a TD - WOW, I can see why you think he's our man! And that was his BEST GAME!!!
Gosh? Do those two plays not count?
The offense scored 4 TD's on the road against a very good TCU defense. Against KSU, the offense scored 3 TD's against a pretty good defense.

In Jantz's only start (at home) against a good Tech defense, the offense put up a pathetic 1 TD. Posters like to complain about JB's 50% completion percentage, well against the only Big 12 team Jantz has started against this year, his completion percentage was 50%, and he turned the ball over four times on top of that.

Facts are neither QB is very good. I would rather go with the guy that can get the run game going a little, and I think that is JB.

I prefer Jantz. Maybe it's because I never know if he'll do something spectacular (UNI & Iowa games from last year) or if he'll turn the ball over (Tx Tech game this year).

Both QBs have played poorly the majority of the time this year...I simply like watching Jantz more.

Did you watch the OSU and Tech game last year? Or the TCU game this year?

Also did you watch the Iowa game this year or the 5 Big 12 games SJ started?

you realize majority of the games JB has started is against top 25 teams? SJ has played UNI, Iowa (2), West ill, a bad UCONN team...........of course he is going to have moments of looking good.

I would like to get a supply of whatever drugs you are taking.

I still like watching Jantz more.

As far as any one play JB made in the OSU, Tech, & TCU games nothing struck me as spectacular.
Some of the plays Jantz made against UNI & Iowa last year were spectacular (in my opinion).

That's just my opinion & I realize it might not be the same as yours or others here.

I totally agree for what that is worth... probably not much. But, this is all about winning and Sam is a winner. Jantz not and JB not so much.

To people saying it's a ploy to confuse the opponents by not knowing who the qb is. I assume you prepare for an ineffective zone read, and terrible screen passes in the same way regardless of who is qb.

I honestly don't understand Steele's advocates... he has loads of potential, we all understand that. But he clearly has no idea how to avoid turnovers or how to sit in a pocket and throw without getting crazy feet. It's time to start preparing Richardson for the future and to find our way into a bowl game this year. Start Richardson and don't change the lineup again as far as the quarterback position goes.
I know that you're trolling, but apparently you missed the first few games of the season, when he had decent protection, and stood tall in the pocket. It would be nice if he could get decent protection again, especially against a horrid Baylor defense.

I guess I'd like to see him start and have a great game, just to see you drop this ID and go back to your regular one.

Problem is, he hasn't done anything spectacular against teams that were any good, and in addition, the only reason such play was needed was because he put us in a hole with his turnovers to begin with.

It doesnt matter how good he is in other areas if he at best destroys a drive with a turnover, and at worst puts the other team in short scoring position with that turnover (effectively negative points). I'll take the guy who is less able, but yet less likely to zero out whatever accomplishments he has made with a turnover. Though both options suck.

What does the bolded have to do with Baylor's defense?

The way I see it is this:
- JB has trouble actually hitting the receivers (doesn't involve the d backs as much)
- SJ has trouble making the right decision (directly involves the d backs)

So, IMHO, I don't think Baylor's defense will be good enough to be in position for as many interceptions. Give me SJ for passing game alone, & hope he has worked on ball security in the rushing game.

I actually had great seats for the games he started this year... and if he starts and has a great game, I would be incredibly happy. I just want to see good quarterback play for once this year. It has clearly been a struggle all year, and what confuses me is that I don't remember it being this rough last year.

I gotta say i agree with this... if there was a game for him to get on a roll this is it...

Im siding with Jantz, yea he has had ball security issues, maybe not to the degree Barnett has experienced yet but he has more upside than barnett. How does our Passing game begin and sustain success this year, completeting the mid range quick hitters and screens to allow our jitterbug type WR's to make a man miss and get up field. This in turn widens the field to allow more success running and open's up the deep ball which jantz has the better arm for. Zone read scheme Im going to call "push" on with jantz and barnett, bc if we get our short intermediate pass game operating with the higher Comp %, the running game goes with it!

With Barnett's low comp % we continue to spin our wheels and never get off "go". I understand and was just as mad at Jantz as everyone else, but I dont see why he's always yanked so fast and yet we stay with barnett for so long when he struggles...

i agree, BUT jantz has hit how many deep passes in his time at isu? i dont know the exact number, but i'm sure it is less than barnett. i really dont know what to think of our QB situation at this point.
