Starting Lineups

Why do you need to know? I'm fine with not telling the opponents who will be playing and who won't be playing.

Why even have a depth chart? Why not just say "we'll see who runs on the field". It doesn't really matter for anything important but we all know lack of information causes far more problems and miscommunication than if people just address the problem up front.

We also know that that information is really only "needed" within the organization which in this case is the football team; not the media, fans and fan forums. I'm not sure what terrible problems and miscommunication not putting out a press release about the starting QB will cause.

We are fans, not an integral part of the team. Besides we should be able to cheer for whatever QB they trot out there; there isn't a lot of prep involved.

To the people saying Jantz has a higher ceiling, more potential, etc. How long will it take him to realize that "potential"? Certainly not half way through his senior season

I don't really have a preference on QB, and certainly wouldn't boo anyone.

but if Jake Knott is announced in the starting lineup, the crowd needs to go crazy.

All 3 non-students in the stadium a half hour before kickoff when they show the videos?

And I agree with the above. Don't yank any of the quarterbacks if they make a mistake or two. Once you do that, the guy after him is going to play tentative knowing there's a quick hook. I think that's been our biggest issue this year. No clear quarterback leads to the coaches having another option available without much gain or loss which leads to quarterbacks playing tentative and being afraid of making mistakes.

Agreed. Cracks me up that message board junkies feel they're entitled to every bit of information. This is universal for all fan bases. It seems to me that the last time we didn't know the starting QB until game time was the TCU game - and that worked out pretty well.

I'll cheer for whoever, but in order of preference I'd like to hear:

1. Jantz
2. Richardson
3. Barnett

The offensive performance that got Jantz pulled was better than the ones Barnett has put up since.

You realize Jantz was 10-20 for 73 yards and 4 turnovers in the game against Tech right? A high school QB could of done better then that. Barnett has had 200 yards of offense each game he's started.

My wife and I are 2 of the 3 non students because I love to watch pregame warmups.

The same tech defense that shut down Heisman candidate Gino Smith? Yeah I am sure a high school QB would have done much better.

What will the reactions be if they announce Sam Richardson as the starting quarterback on the jumbotron prior to the game?

I'm guessing the reaction of the majority of people will be "Sam Richardson? I thought he played defense."

I prefer Jantz. Maybe it's because I never know if he'll do something spectacular (UNI & Iowa games from last year) or if he'll turn the ball over (Tx Tech game this year).

Both QBs have played poorly the majority of the time this year...I simply like watching Jantz more.

I can concur with simply liking to watch Steele more. I have no hope with Jared back there. At least with Steele I feel like there's hope for an exciting play.

Problem is, he hasn't done anything spectacular against teams that were any good, and in addition, the only reason such play was needed was because he put us in a hole with his turnovers to begin with.

It doesnt matter how good he is in other areas if he at best destroys a drive with a turnover, and at worst puts the other team in short scoring position with that turnover (effectively negative points). I'll take the guy who is less able, but yet less likely to zero out whatever accomplishments he has made with a turnover. Though both options suck.

Anyone think Rhoads won't start Richardson because of ego? If Richardson does well, Rhoads will take heat. If Richardson comes in and plays bad, Rhoads will take heat.

Not quite 200 yards in each game....his highlight game was TCU when he went a whopping 12-21 for 183 yards and 3 TD's - of course 125 of that came off of 2 plays. So besides the 2 big plays he was 10-19 for 58 yards and a TD - WOW, I can see why you think he's our man! And that was his BEST GAME!!!

I sat there in Stillwater last week and was sick to my stomach thinking this guy is the answer. He was damn lucky not to be picked off 3 other times. In fact one of his passes was so horrible that even the DB couldn't get back to pick it off. Sorry, I'll hold my nose and take Steele over JB - He has no touch, makes poor reads and isn't running with confidence or power when he does take off.

I have no problem seeing what Sam can do for a series or two, but this is a winnable game - a must win for a bowl. If we were looking for a guy to protect the ball and not lose it for us, maybe JB, but we need to WIN this game not just avoid losing. Sad to say, but Steele is the best shot for that....and hopefully he doesn't turn it over too much!

Geno Smith still had 300 yards of offense, zero turnovers it was more that WVU's defense is horrible. Texas tech played light outs that game no doubt, but Geno smith still had more yards that game then Jantz has had in one game (minus WIU)

I never said Barnett was a good QB. He doesnt have the best arm strength your right, everyone knows that , but he doesnt turn the ball over. Jantz could go out and pass for 350 yards, but when he's consistently turning the ball over 3-4 times a game it doesnt matter. Jantz lacks the mental abilities to be a successful QB, he plays decent up until the moment he makes a mistake then he just goes downhill and really quick.
