Or the death of Tasha Yar
Really, I think they go hand-in-hand. Riker's beard couldn't grow so long as Yar was on the bridge.

Or the death of Tasha Yar
It kinda is. Do you as a consumer and fan feel watching this series is worth your $6 a month? I asked myself this and said yes. Because I want to watch the show, and that is only like one beer at the bar.
Season 3 the show hit its stride.
Who all is planning to catch the new episode this week? I'll be late since I am traveling for a work conference but will be catching up when I get back home next week. I'm pumped to actually see the Discovery and meet the crew!
The pilot didn't sway me one way or the other. It wasn't "WOW!" but it also wasn't "Spock surfing on a starship amid a fistfight" awful either. I'm going to let a few episodes pile up, then use the free period to make an assessment.
I have a feeling they would blame Star Trek though and not their CBS All Access model. Here's the problem - There are a million shows. and I'm done signing up for stuff. No, $6 isn't worth it for me. $1 wouldn't be worth it for me. Eventually it'll be on Amazon Prime or some other streaming service down the line and I'll just be patient and wait until then. Of course, I'd love it if CBS all access didn't get enough subscribers and scrapped the whole thing. That'd be fantastic.
Saw the first 3 episodes using Kodi. They imagery is really good, and I like some of the characters The plots so far are kind of predictable. All the Klingons are crazy, gun ho for war, and the Discovery Captain is a secret super evil scumbag, the Federation is working on illegal weapons, etc. Just tired of everyone in authority always portrayed as power hungry nut jobs that break all the rules. The captain and first officer go on a super dangerous away mission by themselves in the pilot, which makes no sense at all, even though it is pretty common on Star Trek.
Hopefully it will get better as characters are developed. It is well worth watching, just for the cool visual effects.
I will echo that I really liked Enterprise, especially Scott Bacula as captain. Always like him in Quantum Leap.
I don't think he is going to be. I think it meant to be much deeper and more complex than that.
I sure hope so. Just not sure why anyone would keep the death monster from the other ship, unless you are going to beam it onto a Klingon ship, AKA Gorignak from Galaxy Quest.
I've been downloading it through alternate means... but yes, this show has gotten better as its gone along. Last night's was great.
Convinces me more and more they completely flubbed the launch though.
Not Star Trek related:
CBS All Access (the network that Star Trek: Discovery in on) is currently working with Jordan Peele on a Twilight Zone series. I thought one of the biggest hang-ups of Discovery was that there wasn't any additional content worth subscribing for another streaming service. If they can get a few more shows in development, then I might consider getting a subscription.

couple episodes behind, did like H. F. Mudd being in the last episode. Might show up later, but didn't seem like the kind of guy that would escape the Klingons.
I have been watching the one Enterprise series with Scott Bacula over the past few weeks. Show seems to get a lot of hate, but I always like Bacula in Quantum Leap, so I enjoyed this too.
