Fee based? While I still find this bizarre I've recently learned that EMAW Online is the legit Rivals site, whereas GoEMAW is a cess pool.

I agree,
He will always likely love Iowa State but like all professionals sometimes it simply is time to move on. He may have been limited on what he could do with CF.
How many of us have switched to the "enemy"? For example, my daughter is about the same age as Jared and is working for her third insurance company.
Jared had been working at CF for basically 10 years. He was an intern for awhile and went full time when he graduated in 2016.
In my opinion, he's just a soon-to-be 30 year-old man that decided to look for something different.
He didn't have some grand scheme to turn away from Iowa State and go to an in-conference rival.

I think 2 is a lot more likely. Easy to get burnt out and want something different when you've been at the same place for 10 years. This tells me 1 of 2 things happened:
1) the split from CF was NOT amicable and they’ve all lied about that out of professional courtesy.
OR
2) Stanz found the open market a very humbling place and this ended up being his best option out there.
I think the second is the most likely, but I’m really wondering about the first.
In Missouri I think. Kansas does have online sports betting, so maybe he has that story to look forward to in the future. Is weed legal in kansas?
We, the fans, don't switch easily.I think it's a little different than switching different companies. Nobody roots for an insurance company.
We, the fans, don't switch easily.
Jared, the fan, will likely always be a Cyclone fan.
Jared, the professional, may need to add to his allegiance.
For example, I am a Commanders fan. John Keim, my favorite local reporter, grew up in Ohio and was a Cleveland fan as a kid and still is very much a fan of Ohio State. However, he does a great job providing insight into the Commanders.
It might be easier for Jared to work "for the enemy" as a journalist. He can be an objective journalist.
That was kind of my thought as well. I wonder if he will physically move (as i heard him on KXNO last week) or do it remote? I just ask as you'd think the ability to work sources, go to pressers, etc would be so much easier in person vs remote.Jared had been working at CF for basically 10 years. I will believe it was Money (and that's OK). Probably annual review time heading into the heavy Football and Bball seasons and the salary adjustment didn't meet expectations. We get clouded because we don’t see things from the business side. This just seems like business to me.
Or he is building a portfolio of work that can be seen as diverse with quality. This tells me 1 of 2 things happened:
1) the split from CF was NOT amicable and they’ve all lied about that out of professional courtesy.
OR

Or he is a cyclone fan and wants to be a writer. So he wasn't a Cyclone fan and just was a writer?? That is what I get out of this. CW is a Cyclone fan. Stansbury must have just been a writer who got a job writing for CF is my take on it. I don't know the guy at all to be honest.
