I don't get how people pile on Matt as much as they do. I swear some people here will go bonkers on anyone if a topic isn't talked about with Cyclone and Gold colored glasses on and there is even a hint of it not being favorable towards the Cyclones. Seriously, talk radio is there to debate both sides not just be another marketing tool to put ISU on a pedestal. Do I always agree with Matt? No, but I think he does a very good job of "keeping it real" and for the most part is pretty level headed and realistic. He's not Martha who used to shout over any caller that debated with him then hung up and ripped the caller while they weren't on the phone anymore to defend themselves.
You don't have to go far here most days to find some thread where someone takes an article or discussion from a radio show and try to play it off as anti-Cyclone. News for everyone, most people in the media are not out to trash the Cyclones!!!
That's assuming that the game is going to have much meaning, which assumes both teams will be successful, which is a huge supposition. The Big?10 may really regret this move in the long run.
:chatterbox:What a sham saying they based any of the expansion criteria on academics, plus according to the DSM rag, our tv market is larger than both the Squawks and the Huskers. NU can't hold a candle to ISU in academics or research.
It is what it is, and they'll get what they bargained for, another super-power wantabe that may finish high in the conference, but be lucky to crack the bottom of the top 10 at the end of the year. I guess they need someone besides tOSU to get embarassed in a BCS bowl game.

/QUOTE]
Actually he did this yesterday when someone called and said that they wanted to call him out. In his defense the caller was doing the same thing but as soon as the caller "quoted" Matt wrong he went on and on talking over the caller and saying if you are going to quote me quote me right over and over. Eventually they hung up on the caller.
I think that Matt was taking unwarranted shots at ISU during the realignment discussions saying that we continually get our heads kicked in by TX and OU (which is true but he made it a point to repeat this over and over) and that going to the MWC was a good deal. Are we on the same level as TX and OU, no but neither are 90% of the rest of the teams in BCS conferences (yes OU had a bad year last year but they are better than their record in 09 indicated).
His continuous jabs to make sure that we know we are "inferior" to the rest of the B12 causes people to go into orbit and then start threads like this. I think he likes the attention and will continue.
Honest answer to your question:
1-I could take matt's schtick if he was honest-he isn't. He lies. When called out, he runs people with loudness, and talking over them-ala Walters, dude yesterday. I will be real interested to see how he handles being caught in his lie here.
2-He wants respect in a market in which he boldly rolled in-and promptly alienated a LOT of people. Pollard won't touch the kid(he's 33 you know) with a ten ft pole. He has not earned the respect he is demanding, and acts injured because we take him for what he is...low end talent that is unrelateable.
3-Matt bounces back and forth. At times he wants to be taken seriously as a definitive authority, and other times he wants to be an opinion guy. He has takes that he is wrong about-plain wrong. It would serve him well to admit those.
4-Matt is a 'shock' sports radio personality...except he just isn't that great at it; because of this he has an inability to do legitimate program.
5-He obsesses about the weirdest things- i.e. "i'm 33".
6-Matt hasn't earned the respect that I give Miller(Ken or Jon) or the others because with them you know what you are getting. Matt pawns himself one way, but is really something very different. My guess is, that if Matt had one objective piece in his soul he could listen to his show, then promptly take himself to the woodshed for his approach.
7-He has terrible logic. This is the worst. He is consistently inconsistent.
The things above are the reason I find Matt "I'm 33" Perrault unpalatable, and listen for about 3 minutes-then plug my ipone into the car and listen to Pandora.
You guys are pathetic.. seriously
I am now and always have been a cyclone fan. And reading how WEAK some of our fan base is by getting this offended over a talk radio individual almost makes me not want to be a cyclone fan. Go get some Kleenexes and cry some where else
No, Iowa vs. Nebraska will be the biggest game in the state of Iowa in 3 to 5 years. I stand behind that and have said that since this talk of NU in the Big 10 started. That doesn't mean that Iowa vs. Iowa State should go away.
Wow! I really thought that was Mike Perrault for awhile. Great Job!
Sounds like he wants to be a big fish in a small pondOkay sorry to derail the topic at hand here BUT...
CycloneJoe,
what is your problem? ever since Texas has said their staying you've been all this is bad for iowa state HOW? the south endzone could be bowled in, more exposure, and we get to butt heads with Texas and OU every year, granted we're not at their level, (yet) so what it's called competition, thats why you play the game sure we may be able to call it a loss this year, but hell who knows next year or the year after, we could be at their level, i have full confidence in CPR and CFH that they can succeed in the (new) Big 12, 10 conference. just my .02 cents.
CARRY ON...
Nope I just listen to him. I don't let what a sports talk guy says about my team affect my life and my attitude, and then come on to a message board whining about it.I presume you listen faithfully to Matt P?
